8 Amazing Activities To Try Out During Fall Break's Festively Productive Season

Though we all love to relax and enjoy ourselves, most of the time many of our families don't go on trips during fall break due to work. But that shouldn't mean we should waste an entire week not doing anything fun or productive. Here are ten things we can do to make Fall Break worth our time!

Read a good book.

Guys, many of us quit the urge to read books when we are in high school because of all the homework and extracurriculars we have. There must be one book on our desk, yearning for us to read it for the past month (some of us a year). Pick it up, and go to an unknown world.

Picnic with "long-lost" friends.

If you love to socialize but miss your best friends who are across the country from you, plan to meet during Fall Break. You could enjoy a nice girls' slumber party or guys' night out. You don't always have to reconnect through a computer screen!

Visit state landmarks.

You can't take a 5-day break to Hawaii; well, you can take a 5-hour trip to a Legoland. Not every trip needs to be costly for your pockets; a $20 fee would do. Some places you can visit here in Georgia can be the Smoky Mountains and Stone Mountain Park.

Create new outfits.

Ladies, we need a lot of clothes. Like, a lot! Have you not seen you the dresser? We constantly need more outfit ideas and buy more and more clothes as time goes on. Like nothing wrong with shopping, but some of the best styles come from when you mix and match. Do a little dress up at home; it couldn't hurt!

Have a one-person dance party.

Guys, we don't need to go to an actual party to have fun. We can do everything in the comfort of our PJs. No one to judge your dancing style or to bump into. I say it's a win-win situation.

Work on college essays.

You're telling me that you're a senior who will not work over Fall Break? Please, tell me: why you would do such a thing? You have one week of no school, and you don't use it to write the last-minute edits to your essay? Please take a chair and get to work. Don't wait till the last minute.

Get ahead in your classes.

Hey, you can be productive during the break if you set your mind it. We all have that one subject that can be a pain in the back when school starts. Do a bit of studying to improve your skills in that class. Surprise your teacher and classmates when you get back!

Connect with nature.

You used to love paying the grass during elementary school, but now you are glued to a computer screen all day. I get it; it is hard with social media now these days to connect with your inner self and nature. Sometimes we need to leave our worldly possessions and enjoy the beautiful world around us.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
