I really need to say something. After all of the violence that has been happening recently, I think we all need to step back and realize what is actually important. Whether Hillary Clinton deleted emails or not is not important right now. Whether Donald Trump said something racist/demeaning to women is not important right now. Kevin Durant going to the Warriors is not important right now. Obviously these things matter to us each a little bit, but in the long run, family and friends are what matter right now. The two African-American men who were killed outside a convenience store or during a traffic stop do not have the choice to worry about whether to vote for Hillary or Trump anymore. The five Dallas police officers who were killed protecting peaceful protesters don't have the chance to talk to their buddies about how KD is taking a shortcut. None of these people are able to worry about the petty things, and they sure as hell can't worry about the important things anymore. I don't understand people who are saying that Alton Sterling or Philando Castile deserved to die. I also don't understand people who are saying that the Dallas officers deserved to die. I wish that we could all put race aside and realize that all lives matter. We were all put on this Earth for a reason, and let's be honest, skin color literally has to do with how close to the equator our ancestors were. God loves all of his children, and for that we need to start acting like children of God.
We need to take peaceful action. It is heartbreaking that the sniper in Dallas saw no other option to avenge the deaths of Sterling and Castile. Violence is never the answer, and ends up leaving the ones we love in an unthinkable situation. After the Orlando shooting, everybody prayed for the victims and their families, which was 100 percent right to do, but you know who I prayed for? The shooter's son. That little boy has to grow up knowing that his father was responsible for the largest mass shooting in US history. These are the people that we don't think about. The innocents who have to deal with the blowback of an event. The ones who have to live their lives with that weight on their conscious.
So for just five minutes, forget all of the politics, all of the hatred in this world, and just think about what matters to you. I promise that you will be a lot happier if you choose to put what truly matters above all else. And tonight, give some prayers for the families of the deceased this week. They may all have different lives and may be of different color, but they share one heartache, and I truly believe we are all responsible for speaking out against this senseless violence.
