Many people make resolutions that they may not actually achieve by the end of the year or even the end of the month. However, there are multiple different resolutions that may not be as intense, but they are much more achievable.
1. Make the effort to hold the door open for the person behind you.
This may or may not be second nature for you, but why not make it second nature? This is such a small gesture, but such a nice thing when it happens to you.
2. Offer to buy your co-worker a coffee sometime.
Even if you don't have the best relationship with this person, this might just be the thing they need to get through the day or week.
3. Go for a long walk as soon as you have some free time.
This fresh air and exercise will do wonders if you just take the time to get out there. Take a break from your HGTV marathon and look at the houses in the neighborhood, choose your own "fixer-upper".
4. Be present for more family events.
This time with family is extremely important even if you are not as close with them as you wish you could be. Try to make the effort to spend quality time with those you love.
5. Go volunteer where there is help needed.
Whether or not it is the animal shelter, homeless shelter, senior citizen home, soup kitchen, or other locations, volunteer work is always needed and is definitely quite rewarding.
6. Be there for your friends when you can.
Try not to put "your people" on the back burner when you can do more to be there for them. Remind them how much you appreciate them with a simple phone call.
7. Learn something new when you have down time.
Google can help to answer the quick questions you have, but books can reveal even more information if you are looking to learn more about a certain topic.
The New Year is an exciting time, so try to take a deep breath and don't worry about the major resolutions that will change your entire life. Focus on the little things that can help to improve your day-to-day life and the lives of those around you. Best wishes to everyone in 2017!!!
