Are You Watching?

Over the years I’ve done a lot of things in this world. As a little child, I used to do the things I did in order to gain the acceptance from my peers around me. Definitely led to many embarrassing moments to say the least. It was something that stuck with me well into my middle school years and it caused a lot hurdles as I paved the way towards that transcendence from adolescence to my teenage years. During high school, I stopped caring what people thought of me and focused only on what made me happy. But by not caring about the opinion of others, I was susceptible to being reckless without taking any regards of the future. Time passed and after much tutelage, I’ve come to value the future with great passion. As far as my current actions are concerned, while do them for self-satisfaction, there are those who attention I wish to garner. Only a few, but to me, those few individuals are the ones whose attention will bring me to greater heights in life and happiness. As a first, I wish to seek the attention of my future employers. Within my collegiate career, I’ve done what I could in order to make a statement. Extracurricular activities, internships, research, and a decent GPA (not the greatest but acceptable given my field), with all these actions I wish to stand out in certain way. I wish for these prospective employers to see in me someone of great intellectual potential that is worth investing time and money in. With this investment made, it allows me to further my pursuit of success and eventually reach the upper echelons of adulthood in great comfort. Whether that means I climb up the ladder of a particular business or create a legacy by helping to engineer something to change the world, I’m willing to settle for either course. But I know it starts with that future employer taking that chance. With my actions, I seek the attention of drive: my friends and family. They have been the support that allows me to move forward should I fall, to persevere when I have contemplations of giving up. With love and respect, I showcase these traits to display my gratitude of these people for allowing me to become a great part of their life. The journeys we’ve made, the laughs we’ve shared, the memories we’ve made together, I want them to continue watching me as I push towards my future and make them proud. The only other person I would want to watch me would be the love of my life. I would want her to always watch me, from the time I meet her to the time I lie down waiting for death’s embrace. I want her to see me grow to further heights as we rise together, hand in hand. As we continue to rise, I want her to be happy that she took a chance with me and profited from it. Whether we realize it or not, everyone is watching someone. We look at the successes and failures to determine how we move forward. We are motivated from their successes and learn from the failures. As we travel through life seeking out our goals, we all need that someone to watch us, may it be a loved one or even a higher power if nothing else. And as we are watched by others, so too are we watching, waiting, anticipating what lies ahead with optimism and excitement. So…….are you watching?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
