Only 90s Kids Remember

Was our decade really that great?

90s kids! Something I'm sure you've seen plastered at least once somewhere on a social media site you use. The phrase, "only 90s kids remember," along with, "kids these days will never know..." come to mind. Yet, these so-called "90s kids" often come off as pretentious, nostalgic for a time where they really didn't have to do much but eat cereal in the mornings and watch new episodes of "Rugrats." It may be because I was born in '96 and am much too young to remember the "thrill" of the 90s, but it seems as though these kids are desperately craving a time that wasn't as great as they remember it being.

Too often, I see posts with these kids talking about how unfortunate today's kids are because they don't have to typically deal with the inconvenience of dial-up or carry around spare change in their pocket to use a pay phone. In all reality, the kids who don't have to deal with this older technology are lucky. I'm sure that if these 90s kids had faster, dial-up free internet back then, they would have been thrilled. It would make using Internet Explorer to go on the Space Jam promotional website much quicker.

Occasionally, I find myself on Buzzfeed. As someone with horrible ADHD, their quick click bait articles often catch my eye, and I'm able to get through them and absorb the material within a matter of seconds. Unfortunately, going on Buzzfeed usually results in finding at least one Rewind article about the 90s. A thing these articles enjoy touching on are the various edibles the kids of today won't get to taste, and although I desperately miss Wonderballs as much as the next person, and do pity the fact that kids today will never get to eat them, these articles touch on many foods that are still in the grocery stores today. I once saw a 90s kid complain about the lack of Lunchables, which I find funny because I see the over-priced things each time I go to the grocery store. We still have Fruit Gushers, and we still have Warheads. Just because you're too blind to find them in the store doesn't mean they aren't on sale anymore.

Fun fact: Your toys weren't much better than what kids have today. I miss my Poo-Chi robotic dog, I'll be honest with you. But, while you had your little handheld water games, kids today have plenty of apps and video games to keep them entertained. You aren't special for being a 90s kid! Maybe you think your childhood was so much better, but you were technologically limited. And although some 90s cartoons may be preferable to what you see on TV now, it wasn't the best decade, and you need to stop thriving on your nostalgia!

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.
