Especially during the Summer, we all expect to wake up and have an ideal day: majority stress-free, exciting, productive, and memorable. But we dread the days that we arrive late to the staff meeting, leave our credit card at home, and have to stop by the grocery store on the way home. Alternatively, most of my best days have followed a few patterns that ensured they would be at least enjoyable. Here are the best (and seemingly minor) characteristics of my best days.

1. Your alarm is your friend.

Giphy

And by this, I mean, it goes off and I wake up within 3-4 minutes of hearing it. I don't absurdly wake up 30 minutes or more before it goes off, and I don't snooze over and over until it decides to stop reminding me to wake up. It's a gentle, even friendly reminder-- not a nuisance.

2. You're on time

Giphy

No traffic, your gas tank is already full, no fender benders, and you arrive at your destination 5-10 minutes early so you can settle in—whether it be at work, school, lunch plans, etc. This one is the rarest occurrence for me.

3. Your favorite songs are playing

Giphy

Whether you're listening to a Daily Mix, or just the radio station, some of your favorite jams will come on the radio within the first few minutes of listening. For me, this includes a wide range of Michael Jackson tunes, to Maroon 5, and maybe even Kenny Chesney and Reba McEntire.

4. None of your coffee spills

Giphy

If you're anything like me, you're a notorious klutz. If the majority of your coffee is either in your mug or your stomach, seems like you've got a pretty good hold on things this morning.

5. It's your designated TV show day.

Giphy

Whether you're a Bachelor on ABC Mondays kind of person, or you are watching Dateline NBC on Friday nights, if it's your one day of the week to get your hour of couch collapse in, you're counting down the minutes until you can get back home for this evening's episode.

6. Tomorrow is the weekend, enough said.

7. It is the weekend.

8. You have the perfect amount of text messages to wake up to

Giphy

Basically, there's a happy medium. If you have no text messages, then no one was thinking of you or had anything they needed/wanted to tell you. However, you could have 20 texts—because there's a family emergency, a local threat, or your co-workers are frantically trying to find a replacement before their shift that starts in 3 and a half hours. Usually, 2-5 messages can mean a friend is wanting to catch up over lunch, a family member is asking how you're doing, and (during the school year) classes are canceled.

So there you have it, take these and make your own list. Notice the small things that make your days fantastic and pay attention to them; don't take them for granted. Because as the saying goes: it's a good day, to have a good day.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer.
