In life, there are many lessons one can learn and teach. Many of my life lessons were taught to me through the Grateful Dead, and I intend to express those life lessons to you through meaningful lyrics.

“Let the Good Times Roll…”

This first lesson is self-explanatory. In life, there are ups and downs, and most of the time, you have no control over them. Let the cookie crumble, and enjoy every last minute of life you can. It takes one smile to overcome fifteen frowns.

“Nothin’ Left to Do but Smile, Smile, Smile…”

As I said before, life has many ups and downs. When you encounter those downs, face it with a smile. If you have nothing else to do, smile. When you don’t feel like smiling, smile. One smile can make anyone’s day, and someone might need a smile to get through the day.

“Inspiration, Move me Brightly…”

Inspiration can be found almost everywhere, but it’s up to you to act on that inspiration. It all ends with you. It is your choice to embrace inspiration, change, progress, etc. to better your life. No one else can live your life for you.

“You Are the Eyes of the World…”

No one can ever tell you that you are not worth anything. You are an amazing person and you embody all the world in you. If you believe that you are nothing, then you are just that. If you wake up in the morning and tell yourself that you matter, then you do. You need to be the best you can be.

“Don’t You let That Deal go Down…”

Perseverance is one of the most well taught lessons in all of humanity, and the Dead really wanted people to succeed. They woke up each morning with the intention of playing music, and in that aspect, they succeeded. Make little goals for yourself, and when you complete those, you will feel an amazing sense of confidence and understanding.

“Never Give Your Love Unto a Foolish Heart…”

In life, there may be people who love you, and there may be people who don’t. If and when you fall in love, make sure it is with the right person. Never give your love to someone who will not give love in return. Love a person who speaks from the heart, and not from the mind. Love someone who makes you feel loved.

“A Box of Rain will Ease the Pain and Love will See You Through…”

This one quote says it all. Reach out your hand, and there will almost always be someone to help. Friendship is one of the best qualities of life, because it encompasses all aspects of love, trust, and acceptance. If you feel like there is no one to rely on, be the one to offer assistance if needed. You may never know how or when, but that help is almost always requited in some way.

“That Path is For Your Steps Alone…”

Like I said before, your life is your own. Never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something. Trying your best is all that counts. Someone’s standards are just that. Break the standard and set your own. There is no telling what you accomplish when you tell yourself that you CAN do something.

Well, I hope that these life lessons help you in your life, and I hope to teach and inspire more in the future. Thank you for reading!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
