Some bible verses apply towards a certain situation, some motivational, and others are just encouraging. These verses are in no particular order but are helpful in my life so I want to shed a little light to others as well! Here are 7 of my favorite (NIV) verses and what they mean to me.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. -Romans 12:12

Believe in Christ and the hope he provides for us, be calm through pain and suffering, and consistent in prayer. Prayer is a daily relief, and a large load off your shoulders, it helps me every single time.

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. -Revelation 21:4

Even through the most tragic of loss, Christ will never leave your side and will take your pain and suffering away. Do not dwell for there will be retribution and happiness ahead. Just give it time.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.-Romans 3:23

Everyone will mess up and is going to mess up. God has foreseen this and has plans for you regardless of what you have done. He will love you through every single mistake that you make. Even as they may occur. We may not deserve such limitless love but our god is bountiful in mercy.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. -Colossians 3:23

Just because we live in a world of men does not mean we should slack off and act as if we are too good for something. Everyone on this world has a purpose and you need to give it everything you have as if you were working for the Lord himself. You were not put on this earth to give 50%.

The LORD is near the brokenhearted; he delivers those who are discouraged. -Psalms 34:18

Even in your darkest of moments god is closer to your heart than one would think. All you must do is give him everything and your burdens will be lifted. When everyone else turns away from unpleasant things, you will find him turning towards them, and in such he will bring deliverance.

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. -Corinthians 10:13

Just when you think that you are alone in a situation, such as addiction, sexual violence, or anything else that one may be ashamed of, I promise you are not alone. Tons of people have been what you have been through and all you need to do is ask for help, whether it be from God, family, friends, or professionals. If you are looking for an escape, just know there is a light in the darkness, you just have to want to find it.

How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? -Matthew 7:4

Why bash your family member, friend, acquaintance or stranger when you have know you do or have done the same thing? Be the helping hand and be a Christian for how they were supposed to be. Christians were meant to be the most loving of people in our age, but at times I see they are the most helpful. Fix yourself before you say anything to anyone else. The day you are perfect is when you can harshly criticize someone else.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
