7 Activities To Do While in Las Vegas.

Most colleges have given us an additional week for spring break because of the coronavirus, however, it has been spent mostly indoors. If you're like me, this hasn't stopped you from dreaming about your next trip.

Things to do in Vegas…. Gamble, drink, see some shows. That's not much of a list. I've talked to many people that say there isn't much to do in Las Vegas. This couldn't be further from the truth.

If you've been considering a trip to Las Vegas, here are some fun activities to fill your time that won't leave you losing your savings in 15 minutes or less.

1. The High Roller Observational Wheel at the LINQ Hotel

This is a giant enclosed Ferris Wheel that provides an amazing view of the Las Vegas Strip. There are 2 options for your 30-minute experience. Option 1 is a shorter wait, and you can bring any beverage you'd like, including alcohol, to enjoy. This experience costs a little less, and is the best deal, in my opinion, since you can bring your own beverage. Option 2 is the adult package that has an open bar inside. This has a longer wait to get on since there are less cabins with bars. This is a little pricier but you can have as much alcohol as you'd like during the 30-minute ride. You'd be surprised how much you can drink in a short amount of time.

2. Walking Food Tours

If you like meeting new people or you like food as much as I do, a food tour is one of the best ways to try something new, while also checking out a city. Lip Smacking Foodie Tours is a great option that took my group to four different restaurants throughout the strip. The walk around the strip helped me get familiar with the strip, and the food was so delicious.

3. Cirque Du Soleil

Seeing shows in Vegas is a must-do if you're looking for entertainment options. I highly recommend seeing at least one Cirque Du Soleil show. They offer six different shows including: Michael Jackson ONE, The Beatles LOVE, KÀ, Mystère, O, and Zumanity. I had the pleasure of seeing Zumanity and The Beatles LOVE shows.

4. Sunbuggy Fun Rentals

This will require a trip outside of the strip and downtown Las Vegas, but it was probably the best thing I did while in Vegas. You've got to allot at least a half day for a chance to ride off road in a dune buggy or ATV tour. I drove a dune buggy through sand dunes that lasted around an hour and a half. A good guide to request is Marquise. He'll tell you to floor it, take fast turns, and that you won't flip over.

5. Slotzilla Zip Line Downtown

You'll have a chance to zip line through Fremont Street in Las Vegas. This is great if you want an adrenaline rush or you're looking to overcome a fear of heights. I went at night and couldn't stop smiling as I flew over pedestrians, and under a huge lit up screen. They offer a few different packages for this experience, but the zoom line feels as close to flying.

6. Red Rock Canyon Las Vegas

Leaving the party, lights, and sounds of Las Vegas can lead you to the mountain area, which can be seen while in the city. This is for those of you who like nature, hiking, camping, and amazing views. You have to pay to get into the National Conservation area, but it's a 13-mile scenic drive with several stops along the way. I'd suggest stopping at the visitor center before you take the drive as you have to show your ticket to get back in at the end of the 13-mile drive.

7. Hoover Dam

The Hoover Dam is also outside the city area. This is a great drive up and has a beautiful view. Some of you may recall Chevy Chase in National Lampoon's Las Vegas Vacation. Although you can't get his experience of the Hoover Dam, you can do tours or just drive up, park, and walk.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
