6 Places To Eat In Athens, Georgia

This past weekend I traveled to Athens, Georgia to visit a friend from high school. We saw a concert at the Georgia Theater, went to the Botanical Gardens, and shopped around the downtown area. But out of all of this, the food was definitely the best part. Think some of the best food you will ever put in your mouth ever. Ever. Keep reading for a list of restaurants we visited in the classic city.

1. White Tiger

You'll truly feel like a local eating at the quaint White Tiger. When we went they were out of barbecue (gasp), but I've been told their barbecue is to die for.

What I ate: Grilled Pimento cheese sandwich

2. Donderos'

Visit this local, family-owned cafe for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. It's located in an old house, and the owners work around the natural infrastructure of the house. I had the hardest time deciding what to order because everything on the menu sounds good.

What I ate: Salmon Salad Sandwich and Cherry Limeade

3. Ike and Jane

Known for their cereal-covered donuts, Ike and Jane will make your morning with their fantastic breakfast. The donuts are insanely cheap—it's practically guaranteed that your entire breakfast will be under $5.

What I ate: Chocolate glazed donut with sprinkles, orange juice

4. Mama's Boy

This was probably the best meal that I ate during the entire trip. They serve breakfast, lunch, and brunch. Pro tip: if you're going for breakfast or brunch, get to Mama's Boy early. We went around 7:30 a.m. and it was surprisingly filling. The biscuits are massive, so come ready to chow down.

What I ate: Pimento cheese and egg biscuit with a side of fruit, coffee

5. Condor Chocolates

Enjoy Ecuadorian chocolate in Georgia. Everything is homemade and the atmosphere is so welcoming that you could sit there for hours. From milkshakes to truffles to chocolate bars to a scoop of ice cream with espresso poured on top, you'll be sure to find something that suits your appetite.

What I ate: Caramel truffle, chai truffle, mocha truffle

6. Ted's Most Best

Known for its pizza, Ted's Most Best has everything. Sit outside on the patio and enjoy the weather and the bocce court. Fun fact: the building is an old tire shop!

What I ate: Baked goat cheese salad, peach sangria

One of the best things about Athens is that you will never run out of new restaurants to try. So hit up these places and take it all in. Happy eating!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
