Valentine’s Day is almost here. It’s that holiday that most people dread. If you are single you are surrounded by couples and everything and anything related to love. You walk into Walmart only to find teddy bears, heart shaped chocolate and Valentine's Day cards in every single isle of the store. You try to escape the holiday, but you can’t. It is everywhere. You want to stay in your room and drown yourself in chocolate and Netflix to get away from the constant reminder of Valentine's Day. However, being single on Valentine's Day is not as bad is it sounds. There are definitely perks that some people don’t think about.
Here are six perks to why being single on Valentine's isn’t so bad:
1. Just be you.
Being single on Valentine's day can actually be a good thing, because you have all the whole entire day to dedicate to yourself. You can do whatever you want, without any pressure or expectation to meet.
2. You don’t have to spend money on heart shaped chocolate.
Having to buy the chocolate that comes in heart shapes boxes can be pricey, especially if you buy the good chocolate. Being single lets you save money on many unnecessary items and instead, save it for something more important or spend it on a bottle of wine and a box of pizza.
3. If you do end up buying the heart shaped chocolate, you get it all to yourself.
Being single means you don’t have to share anything with anyone...including the 10 heart shaped chocolate boxes you may end up buying for yourself.
4. You can spend time with all of your other single friends.
Chances are you are not the only single person you know. You might have some friends who are single. So, instead of laying in your bed watching Netflix, drinking wine and eating chocolate alone, you can do it with all of your other single friends.
5. You don’t have to dress up.
You save time and money. Instead of figuring out what you are going to wear you can just make the decision to chill out in your sweatpants without having to worry about what outfit you should wear on a date.
6. You get a chance to remind yourself that it's important to love you first.
You don’t need to be in a relationship or have a date on Valentine’s Day to be happy. The most important thing is that you love yourself first. So, be your own Valentines this Valentine’s Day.
Remember that when this years Valentine's Day comes, don't bring yourself down because you are single. The right person will come along eventually. In the meantime just enjoy yourself.
