1. Make Sure To Get Enough Sleep
Possibly the most important factor when trying to ace those exams, is to make sure you get enough sleep at night! Everyone knows the average amount of hours of sleep you're supposed to get every night is around 8, but try and use a bedtime calculator that will match up your sleep cycles with then you should go to bed and when you should wake up! I've had friends who have used it before and swear by it!
2. Don't Forget To Eat, Either
We all have heard of those kids who spend all weekend in the library studying for their exams, but let's be real here: if you don't eat healthy foods, let alone don't eat at all, then you're guaranteed not do fair so well. Eating right and eating healthy has been scientifically proven to improve your cognitive functioning! So don't skip out on breakfast and go grab a banana!
3. Take Frequent Study Breaks
It has also ben scientifically proven that studying for more than an hour long will not be as beneficial as taking short breaks in between your studying. Study, but don't forget to give yourself some time in between problem sets to relax and unwind for a few minutes!
4. Whatever You Do, Don't Cram
Again, it was also proven in studies that cramming just minutes before an exam is not an effective way of retaining information long-term! Start studying a week before the actual exam to make sure your brain is able to soak up as much information as possible, and try to avoid cramming at all costs! Although it may help you on the exam, it won't help you when you have to take Chem II in the spring!
5. Make Time For Yourself, and Have Fun
Although the ten minute study breaks are much needed, time out with friends and away from work is just as important! Make sure you take time out of your day to let your friends know you didn't die in the library, and save some space in your busy schedule to include them! Going out with friends and acknowledging your social life is a surefire way to not only take a break but refresh your mind.
