5 Things I Learned From My Dogs

My dog really is my best friend.

5 Things I Learned From My Dogs
Erica Trask-Facebook

Having a dog is such a wonderful experience! I am so lucky to have had more than one who has changed my life. There are quite a few things I have learned from having a dog.

1. How To Be Responsible:

Having a pet of any kind takes responsibility to a new level. The constant caring for a pet's, (especially a dog) needs is something only a responsible person can handle. You have another living thing relying on you to care for it and provide it it's basic needs, this is a lesson in responsibility that no egg project can teach you.

2. How To Be A Good Friend:

A dog is the best friend a person can have. It listens no matter what and is always there to comfort you in your time of need. While they may not quite know what's going on, they know they can help and support you by being there. They are the best listeners to problems and the best cuddle partners when there are no words to be said.

3. Protection Of The People You Love:

Dogs are very instinctively protective. They're constantly on alert for people who threaten their "pack". They will do anything for their family and if they see even a small threat, they will go into protection mode. They are extremely loyal.

4. Finding Joy In Everything.

The amazing thing about dogs is that they find joy in everything. They can have a blast playing with a stick in the yard, if that's not inventive I don't know what is. They find happiness in being with "their people" and being shown affection. It doesn't take anything special to entertain your dog and make them happy, they are simplistic and genuine.

5. How To Love With All Your Heart.

If you're lucky, you will find a special dog. One who you love with all your heart and feels the same about you. They would follow you to the end of the Earth. They stand by you through anything. In a dog's far too short life, they will make you their soulmate. If you are lucky you'll find a part of yourself through them.

So yes, dogs are the most amazing creatures. I don't know what we did to deserve them, but I am forever grateful to my incredible animal family.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer.
