When a college student prays, it’s probably close to “Please help me pass this test,” “Please, Lord, let him/her notice me,” or “PLEASE HELP ME SURVIVE BIOLOGY.” However, these may not be all of the cases in which a college student prays. Yes, Mom and Dad I do say my prayers at night. So here are 5 common things that college students pray about:
1. Give me strength to get through this lab.
Let’s face it, lab days are some of the worst days. They make your day seem even longer, and unless that class contributes specifically to your major, you’re probably not going to use it in life. It’s up to the Lord to carry you through this hour and a half lab.
2. Help me pass this test I did not study for.
Okay, first of all, the amount of work you put in will give you the same type of results. More than likely, if you didn’t study, then you should prepare yourself for the results.
3. Please help me finish writing this essay.
Like most students, I pray this quite frequently. You are probably only done with the first sentence and have no idea what else you are going to say. I say that from personal experience. If I were you, brainstorm, and if that doesn’t work, then PRAY! Pray that God gives you the power to think of great sentence structures and the ability to place words in a way that actually makes sense, even though it’s past 10:00PM.
4. Please give me the strength to finish this week.
By the time it gets to Monday afternoon, we all need reassurance that we can make it through the week—ESPECIALLY DURING TEST WEEKS! It’s so easy to want to give up and let your mind shut down. Just remember that the Lord has put you where you are for a reason and will see you through all of your ups and downs. Keep pushing even when it seems like you can’t anymore.
5. Help me find where I belong.
College is a time for reconstruction in one’s life. So often we forget that we are still trying to figure out who we are going to become and so is everyone else. We are all at a place in our lives where we are reinventing ourselves and trying to make a job out of our passions. What we pray about here is that God guides us and gives us wisdom to see what He is calling us to do and that he will get the glory through that.
