5 Problems All Chronically Late People Can Relate To

No matter how hard you try, you can't seem to ever be on time.

5 Problems All Chronically Late People Can Relate To

1. When you were younger, your parents were constantly nagging you to hurry up and get ready.
No matter where you were off to, you were the reason for your family's tardiness. Whether it was dinner out, church, a visit to your grandparents or even going out to a movie you could never seem to be running on time. Always five minutes behind schedule, your parents could never communicate the importance of being on time with you.

2. People tell you to be ready 15 or 20 minutes earlier than you need to be heading out the door just because they know you'll be running that late.
Leaving for a night out at 10? Need to be somewhere at 12 for lunch? Your friends will tell you that you really should meet up earlier than you need you, just so that you are actually running on schedule once you get back on track with your timing. As annoying as it can be to have people accommodate your tardiness and seem to plan assuming you will be late, this can actually be extremely helpful. And this way you don't feel as though you're holding up the group!

3. "I'll be ready in 5 minutes" really means that you haven't even started getting ready yet.
This is code in late people language for "Shoot, I really should start getting ready I'll realistically be ready in 10 or 15 minutes but I'll say five so you don't get annoyed." We don't even try to do this most of the time, we just like to think we can actually turn ourselves in this short amount of time without being late. Which, let's be honest, never is realistic.

4. You would win a gold medal if losing track of time was a sport.
Even when you consciously know that you have somewhere you have to be at a certain time or specifically have plans later, you allow time to slip through your fingers. By distracting yourself until you realize you're running late, the vicious cycle continues.

5. You have learned how to say sorry, a lot.
It might be your friend, waiting for you to get to lunch when you were supposed to be there fifteen minutes ago. Or your boyfriend who comes to pick you up for dinner and you've just gotten out of the shower and are in the process of drying your hair. Or even worse, your parents who expect you to be ready on time for an important family function and you haven't left your bed yet, Neflix was calling. No matter who it is, you seem to be constantly apologizing (wholeheartedly) for being late, because as much as you want to change this bad habit, it never seems to change.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

bruce springsteen album cover born in the usa

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.
