1. Space it out.
Don't cram the night before. I know most people do it, but don't. Start studying a week in advance, study little sections at a time, and then when the night before the test comes you'll much more prepared.
2. Write it out.
If the professor gives you a study guide then go through it and write down the definitions or examples. You won't believe how much you remember when you actually write out the information.
3. Listen to classical music.
WHAT?! I never thought that I would actually do it, but I tried it one time and I loved it. My mind focused on my homework so much better. I wasn't distracted by anything and I retained so much information. When you listen to music with lyrics you tend to remember the lyrics more than the information you're studying.
4. Study in a group.
I've found that this helps especially when you have questions and can't get a hold of your professor. Also, if someone asks you a question it gives you a chance to explain your answer and then that helps you remember it more.
5. Don't give up.
I know it seems hard to focus and not give up, but just keep going. It gets easier and when you get an A+ on your test or project you'll feel even better and be so happy that you kept with it.
