5 Bible Verses About Worry That You May Need to Read
Logan White

For as long as I can remember I’ve been a huge worrier. From simple school presentations, to what my future may hold, you name it, I’ve probably worried about it. But, I’ve learned the hard way that worrying does absolutely nothing except make you miserable. God is always in control, and fear is never going to change that. Sometimes we need reminding of His promise to never leave us, so here are five little reminders that He is fighting for you.

1. Proverbs 31:25 – “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”

In this verse, God is describing a woman who actively seeks after Him. He is literally telling us that we can stare into the heart of our deepest, darkest fears and just laugh at them. The world has absolutely no hold on us, because whatever happens down here is temporary. God laughs in the face of our worries, because they are so small and insignificant compared to Him.

2. Jeremiah 29:11 – “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

A few years ago, I saw a quote that immediately reminded me of this verse. It explained that God would never give you a life that you could not handle. We may let our problems get the best of us and break us, but it doesn’t have to be that way. God would never let anything happen to you that had the power to break your faith and separate you from Him. We let our problems tear us away from Him. God has a plan He is carrying out, and He sees what you can’t. He can see your entire life mapped out before Him; He can see the potential outcomes of every choice you have to make and chooses the perfect one.

3. Matthew 6:34 – “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”

This verse is one that I’ve loved since I was a little girl, and I would repeat it to myself whenever I felt anxious. I love the idea of tomorrow worrying about itself, and of the carefree attitude God has about the things that seem so terrifying to us. He knows our fears are no match for Him, so He can simply tell us to let tomorrow happen. He knows how ridiculous we are for worrying so much, yet He is patient, He comforts us, and He still continues to watch over us even though we are still afraid.

4. Isaiah 40:31 – “Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Isaiah is a beautiful book in which God assures us that He will never let Satan to bring us hard times without allowing something new to be born out of them (Isaiah 66:9). If we trust in Him, no matter what we are worrying about, it will turn into something beautiful. Our strength will be renewed, and we will never grow tired of fighting.

5. Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

This is something that took me a long time to realize: prayer actually works. I grew up being told that God answers prayer, and I always prayed before bed and before meals. I think it became more of a routine than something truly meaningful. You can literally talk to God at any second during the day. A prayer can be something as simple as, “God, I’m worrying about this. Please take a way my worry and do your will.” I’m working on talking to God constantly during the day, and completely opening up to Him and revealing my innermost thoughts (even though He already knows them, He wants us to come to Him). He really does answer prayer if you just ask Him to help you.

We have absolutely nothing to worry about, because the world cannot touch us. It has no power over us, yet we worry anyway. No matter what you may be worrying about, if you have a huge presentation in one of your classes, if you have no idea what your future is going to look like, if your life seems to be falling to pieces, God is holding your hand through it all. Although it’s easy to feel like He’s abandoned you, He is doing something remarkable inside of you. You have nothing to worry about. God does all of the heavy lifting, we’re just along for the ride.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
