5 Beautiful Places To Take Photos Of SUNY Oneonta

1. Hunt Union Pond.

The pond outside of Hunt Union is a beautiful place to take a picture. Fun fact: it is shaped like the state of New York without any of the islands (i.e. the City and Long Island.) The fountain is said to be positioned where Oneonta is located on the map! It's a great place to bring a book, do homework, or hang out with friends. On a nice day, there are a bunch of people surrounding the pond and embracing the beauty of it. No matter what season it is, this pond is a focal point on campus.

2. Hulbert Hall.

The flags located hanging from the ceiling in Hulbert Hall is a great place to take a picture. You can show your ethnic pride during sporting events by snapping a picture of your favorite flag or take a picture of them all! The rollings hills that can be seen in the background also make for a beautiful scene. Another plus to taking a picture in Hulbert is the dining hall so you can grab a bite to eat after.

3. Fitzelle Hall.

The academic building, Fitzelle Hall, was recently, completely renovated and serves an eco-friendly purpose, reaching LEED Silver certification. With this building, SUNY Oneonta is building a greener future. Along with its sustainability features, Fitzelle Hall has many picture worthy structures, like these amazing lighting fixtures that are a must-have for any Instagram feed. They will make all of your friends from home wish that they had buildings on their campus that could compare to Oneonta's.

4. Pillars.

As an SUNY Oneonta student, you know the tradition of passing through the pillars as a freshman and eventually, a senior. The pillars were made to document important accomplishments in your academic life. All the fuss on campus is about taking a picture from the top of the pillars, but snapping a pic from the bottom of the pillars of the academic quad is just as gorgeous. It shows off the nature on campus with a view of Oneonta's mountains in the background. If you ever have time before classes climbing the stairs is totally worth is.

5. Quad.

The cultural pillars, located in the academic quad, offer an ideal area to show off on social media. It not only looks beautiful, but it also shows off SUNY Oneonta's cultural diversity and how we embrace people from all walks of life on campus!

No matter where you are on campus, SUNY Oneonta offers gorgeous scenery whether it be fall, winter, or spring. Take a stroll through campus and see where the sidewalk takes you. What can you capture with just your phone's camera?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
