I'm sure if you've been on any social media lately, you've seen something about the new season of "Stranger Things." Now, if you haven't seen it yet, you may be thinking, "that show looks weird, what's so great about it?" Well, I thought the same thing... until I finally watched for myself.
I had watched season 1 when it first came out last year, and I couldn't get into it or really pay attention. But, when season 2 was released, I figured I'd give the entire series another shot. Let me say, I was not at all disappointed. Here's why:
1. The Cast
Okay, try to tell me the "Stranger Things" kids are not the cutest little angels you've ever seen. Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will are perfect little babies who must be protected at all costs. I can't help smile at Dustin's curly hair or Mike's attitude. Not to mention, how did these kids get so darn good at acting? Amazing.
2. The Relationships
There's quite a few amazing relationships on the show that are so important. First, can we talk about Eleven and Hopper? He basically adopted her as his own daughter and kept her safe. So. Cute. Then, there's Joyce and Bob. Bob is probably the nicest and most pure guy in the world, and he's what Joyce deserves after all she's been through. After going to hell and back to get her son back, a love interest was much needed for her. Moving on, there's Nancy and Jonathan. At first I was a big fan of Nancy and Steve, but Nancy and Jonathan literally fought the Demogorgon together from the very beginning, and we all know he's always been in love with her. Ugh. Lastly, Eleven and Mike. Mike was the only one who took her in during season 1 and she has always trusted him more than anyone. When they danced together at the Snow Ball I was truly shook. Ah, young love.
3. The Plot
Not going to lie, the plot can be confusing at times. But, what other show has a sketchy lab, another dimension, and evil demogorgons? Not to mention the little girl with superpowers and the amazing chief of police. So many amazing things in one show.
4. Joyce Byers
I've always loved Winona Ryder, but in "Stranger Things," she is just on a whole other level. She is the only one who believes that Will is still alive after his "body" was found. Basically, everyone thought she was insane because she was talking to walls and lights, but a mother always knows. She is just the best mom ever and I honestly want her to adopt me. A true queen.
Hopefully, after reading this, you're considering watching "Stranger Things." It is worth every bit of excitement and hype that seems to surround it. I know, if you're not really into science fiction, you may have your doubts. But, I never really have been into that stuff, either, and here I am, obsessed. I guarantee you will not regret putting blood, sweat, and tears (mostly tears) into this show like me and so many others have.
