The 31 Best TV Shows & Movies From My Childhood

When I was younger, I remember getting so excited coming home from school and watching my favorite TV shows while eating a snack before doing my homework. My mom used to get mad at me all the time for turning on the Disney channel at 8 pm to watch the movie that was coming on next because she knew I would want to watch the whole thing and that means staying up late.

Today's kids TV shows and movies have changed so much over the years. When I turn on Cartoon Network or Disney channel, I tell myself that I was either just an oblivious kid to horrible acting or the shows have just changed so much.

To this day I still get excited when some of the shows I used to watch as a kids comes on TV and I can recite all the words to the theme song!

Here are some of the best shows and movies that aired during my generation as a kid:

1. Hey Arnold!

They all called him football head. I always wanted to go to school with them when I was younger.

2. That's So Raven

My favorite episode is when she had the allergic reaction when she was on the cooking show. When ever she made that face, we all knew what was going to happen next.

3. Suite Life of Zack and Cody

I was so jealous of them living in a hotel. When I was younger, my mom worked at a hotel and my brother and I use to pretend to be Zack and Cody and run around everywhere. I also loved it when they combined the shows and made "That's So Sweet Life of Zack and Cody"!

4. Cat-Dog

This is a really old TV show but I remember how much they fought and it reminded me of my brother and I.

5. Bill Nye the Science Guy

I was sooo pumped when my teacher had this as part of the schedule during science class. I used to go home and try the things I learned on the show all the time.

6. Even Stevens

I remember when they came out with the Even Stevens movie, where they went on vacation and Louis messed up the whole vacation as usual... oh and then there's Beans.

7. Lizzie McGuire

This show was always on when I got home from school and my mom used to complain on how annoying her voice was. I had a sticker of her animated character on my binder and thought I was real cool.

8. Smart House

I always wished I could have lived in this house and throw a party like the son did. I really enjoyed this movie when it came on, but the computer lady was freaky.

9. Rolie Polie Olie

This was a show I would watch in the mornings before I went to school. He was so cute and his little sister was so adorable. Him and that kid with the square body shapes were best friends and I loved their friendship.

10. Full House

I think it's safe to say that we have all watched this show at one point or another. It still comes on today and I get a little excited inside. It makes me feel old looking at the dates when the episodes aired on TV.

11. 7th Heaven

This used to be my show!!!! I remember Lucy had her baby Savannah on my birthday and had her in the elevator. I loved this family and it had a lot of lessons that it taught it's viewers.

12. Magic School bus

This goes with Bill Nye the Science Guy, When ever we watched this show in class I got so excited. I actually learned a lot from watching these over the years because Ms. Frizzle is the best. I think I still even have some of the books.

13. Zenon

Zetus Lupetus this was such a fun movie! I mean who wouldn't want to live in space and have the galaxy as your backyard to go out and explore when ever you wanted?

14. Family Matters

We all know who Erkle is with his famous quote "Did I do that?"

15. Rugrats

If you can still name all the babies names then you were a true fan of this show, but I admit I did stop watching it after they made "All Grown Up."

16. Dexter's Laboratory

Dee-Dee was so cute making her brother Dexter mad all the time by going into his laboratory and messing up his experiments.

17. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

I loved watching Will pick up on all the girls over the years and laughing at almost everything he said or did.

18. Power Puff Girls

This an old show too. I haven't seen an episode on TV for years, but I always considered myself to be blossom and my brother Mojo Jojo the monkey!

19. Double Teamed'

I enjoyed watching this movie when it came on Disney Channel. I remember the scene where one of the girls broke her ankle then still made it to play in the championship game at the end.

20. Cheetah Girls

To this day I still sing some Cheetah Girls songs. They play them at my sorority all the time. This movie made me want to go to Barcelona, Spain one day!

21. The Color of Friendship

This movie had a lot of life lessons in it. It was about a true friendship and how they did not care what color skin they each had. It was about what is on the inside.

22. High School Musical

l

I was OBSESSED with this movie; all three of them. I really like the second one but I did cry watching the third one because it was around the time when I was graduating from high school too. I knew all the dance moves and had all the Troy Bolten posters you can possible have in my room!

23. Hocus Pocus

Every year I look forward to Halloween time because I know that Disney Channel is going to show this movie. I can watch this movie a thousand times and it never gets old.

24. Halloween Town

Same goes for these movies. I wish my grandmother was a witch and had a bunch of cool things in her purse. I didn't like how they change the character of Marney in Halloween Town University, though.

25. Franklin

He was such a sweet turtle and watching this show always made me want a turtle as a pet and eventually I did and I even named it Franklin.

26. Big Bear in the Big Blue House

I always want to be on this show because he was just so friendly and I remember they ate a lot of pancakes.

27. Out of the Box

My friends and I would always do the hand clap snap thing that they did at the end of each episode. All my friends tried to re-create their house by using boxes and then would climb into them, but obviously it wasn't magic. I think everyone who watched this show has tried to do the same thing as well.

28. Reading Rainbow

It's Readinggggg Rainboooow! We used to watch this during class in elementary school. I loved all the books he would read and I would always want my mom to buy them for me.

29. Sesame Street

I know we all watched this show as a kid. I've learned so many things by watching it over the years. It was such a fun show to watch and it was never boring. I also loved Elmo's world, too!

30. Blue's Clues

I used to have the notebook that Steve had in the show. I would follow along when watching and try to find the clues to solve the mystery. I still have my Blue and Magenta stuffed animals!

31. Zoboomafoo

With the Craft Brothers! I know the whole theme song by heart and I absolutely loved this show and learning about all the different animals. I learned how to give my dog a proper bath by not getting water in the ears or eyes by using a simple trick.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
