Recently, the word "squad" has become popular among teen girls and young women, mostly because of Taylor Swift's girl gang. Ever since the formation of her squad, girls across America have been calling their group of friends "squads" and I have completely jumped on the bandwagon. But it's not because I want to emulate Taylor Swift. It is because my friends are the actual definition of a squad--a group of people who are involved in a particular activity.
Ever since I met them, my friends have gotten me through both my best and worst times in college. Any activity we are involved in is great because they are there. Because of them, they have inspired me to be the best version of myself. Honestly, they are one of the reasons I have not dropped out of college yet! Unfortunately, in all of our fun, I never got to thank them for all that they have done for me. So, this one is for y'all--The College Squad.
Thank you for talking to me at the BCM Freshman Fiesta Party during the first week of school freshman year.
Thank you for eating lunch with me in the cafeteria, even when you did not want to.
With that being said, thank you for getting me into the cafeteria when I forgot my student I.D. or ran out of meals.
Thank you for buying me avocados for my birthday gift because ya'll know how much I love them.
Thank you for accepting my weirdness when you guys realized I was different.
Thank you for not only becoming my friend but introducing me to your other friends.
Thank you for not taking the AUX cord away from me in the car (ya'll know ya'll like my indie dubstep music).
Speaking of cars, thank you for giving me car rides anywhere and everywhere.
Thank you for making me smile when all I wanted to do was cry.
Thank you for staying up several nights to talk about my boy problems and not judging me when I said, "I still want a relationship with him."
Thank you for forcing me to get help when I was in denial about my anxiety problems.
Thank you for teaching me how to twerk and do other dance moves.
Thank you for telling the truth when my outfit and hair was not on point.
Thank you for just being honest, even when the truth hurts.
Thank you for being my babysitter on my wild, crazy nights.
Thank you for letting me borrow y'all's clothes and shoes when I forgot to pack them or simply just did not have anything to wear.
Thank you for forcing me to go and taking me to the doctor when I was sick.
Thank you for convincing me to change my major when I was miserable in my last one.
Thank you for either giving me my books for school or selling them to me for really cheap because I am a struggling college student.
Thank you for sushi nights at our favorite sushi restaurant.
Thank you for creating study/pizza parties so it would be fun for us to study for tests.
And last but not least,
Thank you for becoming my second family and accepting my flaws and all. My imaginary bridesmaids proposals are coming soon.
