11/23 21 Types Of Quinnipiac Hockey Fans
Matt Eisenberg

The men's ice hockey team is a big deal here at Quinnipiac, especially this year since the team is highly ranked and playing incredibly. The majority of students have attended at least one game, whether it be for the hockey, the social aspect, or the possibility of getting a free t-shirt or pizza. With such a heavily present student crowd, there are many different kinds of fans at these games.

1. The front rowers

These are the dedicated fans who go early to get the best seats. And they also love to “cheer” on the other team as they walk out.

2. The Yale goers

These are the students that try extremely hard to get Yale tickets even if they don't normally go to other home games. But it's the YALE game and getting a ticket is so hard that it is considered a golden ticket.

3. The texter-

This person is often texting and making plans for the night ahead rather than closely watching the game.

4. The player’s fans

Some call it a “puck bunny,” but this refers to fans that come out to cheer on the players because of their good looks.

5. Teletubbies

If there was a best dressed competition at the hockey games these guys would win every time. They are at all the big games and always in the same spot.

6. Quinnipiac's pep band

Often providing awesome music especially the "Tequilla" song because who doesn’t automatically sing along?

7. The die-hard fans

These fans go to every game possible and follow all the USCHO and USA polls every Monday.

8. The multi-tasker

These fans are true hockey followers. They watch Quinnipiac hockey as well as their favorite NHL teams on their phones.

9. Ice cats

They cheer on the hockey team as well as giving out awesome shirts during “T-shirt time."

10. The coach

The fans that speak in a normal tone to the players as if the players can hear them.

11. The selfie taker

Comes for the selfies of himself/herself at TD Bank Sports Center to show off their school spirit. Plus it makes a great snapchat story.

12. The Buccigross fan

John Buccigross is an ESPN anchor who enjoys watching and following "Cawlidge Hawkey". Fans of his often retweet or tweet at him relating to Quinnipiac hockey.

13. The referees

The fans making calls all game long even when the referees miss a penalty or offside call.

14. The Dance Cam fans

As soon as the music comes on for the dance cam these fans are hyped and ready for their moment on the big screen.

15. The Karaoke fans

The fans that play their air guitar or just sing along to the songs. (Hey that's me on the left!)

16. The retired players

Had the glory of playing high school hockey but now are cheering on the Quinnipiac team.

17. The Toads fans

Every home game on a Saturday night you see a bunch of people leaving after 2nd period to head back and get ready for a night at Toads.

18. The Bandwagoners

When Quinnipiac makes it to the Frozen Four NCAA tournament, you see these fans creeping out of nowhere and stunting their knowledge on the team. But it's alright as long as you join Bobcat Nation.

19. The spirited fans

Fans that come out to cheer on the Bobcats even if they don’t really know what offsides or icing is. All that matters if you cheer when we score! (BTW offsides is when a player without the puck skates passed the blue line first).

20. The announcer

That fan announcing every play to everyone around.

21. The fans that hope for the pizza

Every game a lucky row gets pizza and most fans secretly hopes that it's their row at the game. But who doesn't love pizza?!?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
