21 Signs You Were A Yearbook Student

High school. Somehow, though you're not sure how, you made it through those agonizing four years of 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. school days. Most of the classes were run of the mill: math, science, history, English. But there were those few classes that just couldn't help but stand out from the rest. Those classes that you actually looked forward to throughout the school day. For yearbook kids, this class was (big surprise) yearbook. Yearbook wasn't just a letter grade or a writing assignment. It was a lifestyle that felt more like a job than a class. Most people wouldn't admit to missing a high school class but, when it comes to yearbook, it just might make the cut. How can you tell one of these die-hard "yerds" (yearbook nerds) from the rest of the population? Easy.

1. You're a master of those accidentally-on-purpose-candid photos.

2. You think punctuality is your best trait, but really it's procrastination.

3. You have these random epiphanies of "Oh, that could have gone in our yearbook."

4. You're Facebook, Instagram and Twitter friends with your yearbook adviser.

5. When someone asks you to delete a picture because they "don't look good enough," your reaction is:

6. You still take people's requests with a sarcastic twist.

7. You still try to get Microsoft Word to do all the things that your yearbook platform could do.

8. A magazine isn't just a magazine. It's inspiration.

9. You are more watchful of your research paper fonts than the average college student.

10. Times New Roman? What about Helvetica?

11. The rule of thirds applies to everything in life. Everything.

12. Literally doing anything is worth a photo.

13. Cute dog pic? Better believe you will be testing out multiple camera angles.

14. iPhone photo editing just doesn't live up to the kind of editing you had in yearbook class.

15. You're still salty that they didn't award you a marketing degree just for all of the work you did advertising.

16. You still die a little inside when you're about to snap a candid photo and someone looks straight into the camera.

17. Being busy isn't temporary. It's a lifestyle.

18. You still know just a little too much about pretty much every single student in your graduating class.

19. You still have a folder on Pinterest dedicated specifically to yearbook.

20. You're still best friends with at least one (or multiple) of your yearbook classmates.

21. Some people like to show off their baby pictures. You show off your yearbook.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
