I love makeup. I don't know what it is about it, but it is one of my favorite things. It calms me down when I'm feeling anxious, it boosts my confidence, and I have a lot of fun doing it. I did not wear very much makeup in 2016, but I found and continued using a lot of products that I would like to share with you today. Here are my favorites from 2016 that I'll be bringing with me into 2017.

Foundation:

Revlon Colorstay Foundation, Normal/ Dry Skin

I discovered this foundation several years ago and fell deeply in love with it. I have tried others, but I always come back to it. It is a full coverage foundation, but it still looks natural. They recently changed the packaging to include a pump and it just made a perfect foundation, flawless. I highly recommend this foundation.

Concealer:

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser Concealer

I decided to try this concealer when I was looking for a quick way to do my makeup in the morning before work or school. I have found that the sponge applicator makes it much cleaner and easier to blend on your face. I wear it on its own much of the time and it gives me a light coverage and cancels out redness very well. It's very affordable and I think all makeup lovers should give it a shot.

Powder:

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

Hands down, the best pressed powder out there. It is dirt cheap and stays on all day and leaves a very nice matte finish. My only complaint is that it is only made for light skin tones. Otherwise, it is an awesome powder that I have introduced to so many and they love it just as much.

Eyebrows:

Maybelline Eyeshadow Palette in Designer Chocolates

I originally bought this palette to do a very natural eye look, but then I found the dark brown on the bottom matches my eyebrows perfectly. I just use an angled brush and lightly fill in my eyebrows for a fuller look. I will be lost if they ever discontinue these colors.

Eyeshadows:

Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette

You can never go wrong with Urban Decay eyeshadows. The Naked palettes are stunning and ultra pigmented and I have two of them myself. However, this year I found myself reaching for my Gwen Stefani palette the most. I went for a lighter look than I normally do this year and the champagne colors in this palette worked incredibly well. This is a great palette to have in our arsenal.

Eyeliner:

L'Oreal Paris 24hr Infallible Liquid Eyeliner, The Super Slim

I have tried a lot of liquid eyeliners in my life, and this is my favorite drugstore liner. It has a felt tip applicator which makes a cat eye a breeze. It is highly pigmented and lasts all day. If you are getting used to using eyeliner, this is a great product to perfect your skills.

Mascara:

L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara

This mascara was introduced to me by my grandmother years and years ago and I still use it to this day. It separates, adds volume, and lengthens my lashes all at once. I go through tubes of this every year and any time I try something else, I always compare it to this one and it never beats it. This is a staple that all makeup lovers should have in their collection.

Lips:

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss

These glosses are as pigmented as a liquid lipstick, but shine like a gloss. They smell amazing, are affordable, and there are a ton of colors to choose from. NYX is an awesome brand and these are just the tip of the iceberg for their brilliance in cosmetics.

These are only some of the products that I use on a daily basis. Makeup is such a huge and fun part of my life and I am so glad to be able to share some of my favorites with you!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
