Despite who you support in this election, I think there’s one thing we can all agree on; This process has played out like a reality show. The 2016 presidential election is definitely one for the books. The amount of drama and scandals that have gone along with this election is unprecedented and has turned so far away from what the actual issues are. People are paying more attention to the candidate’s personal lives or the newest dumb thing that one of them said than they are worrying about where they stand on the issues that matter. The first debate was more like reality TV where you just want to curl up with popcorn and laugh with friends, rather than two professional adults with long careers talking about their views for the future of America. Our country has never been more divided between Democrats and Republicans. Many people are scared and nervous for our future as a nation. This is an incredibly important race that will determine our next four or even eight years. But despite that weight, there have been plenty of laughable moments within the past year. Each candidate has done and said some ridiculous things that anyone can laugh at, despite who you are voting for. So with this article, I want to lighten some of the tension that we have all been feeling. Here is the 2016 election as told by The Office gifs, hopefully something that both Democrats and Republicans can laugh at.
1. When the candidates announced their candidacy a year ago and the race officially began and lasted way longer than it should.
2. When we found out that we had to choose between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton.
3. Every time Donald Trump brings up the fact that his father gave him a small loan of a million dollars to start off his career.
4. When the candidates completely change their stances on issues that they said they supported a day ago.
5. Every time a candidate avoids answering a question during a debate or interview.
6.Trump’s massive ego
7.Every time Trump says something offensive then tries to defend his speech.
8. When the candidates constantly interrupt each other during debates so nothing ever gets said.
9. When we question why out of the millions American’s in this country we chose Clinton and Trump to represent us.
10. The moment that we all realize that we might have made a grave mistake and our worried for our future.
Despite our political system feeling so divided, we need to always take time to breathe and laugh at each other and ourselves. I think we can all agree that this race has been at some points laughable or even ridiculous. We are spending too much time fighting each other instead of listening and learning from one another. So, even though there are a lot of moments to laugh at in this election process, it is still super important to get out on November 8th and vote! It is an incredible privilege and right we get, as Americans to be able to vote, so do not squander it. Whoever you support, let your voice be heard; every vote counts.
