From huge portions of food to overzealous nationalism, there are some things about America that the rest of the world finds truly bizarre. I compiled this list from a 23,000 post thread on Reddit that was posted in March 2016.

1. HUGE portion sizes of food.

Okay, so food portions are maybe not this huge, but you get the point. Also, one thing that foreigners noticed was that Americans have a secret obsession with pickles.

2. Flags everywhere. EVERYWHERE.

Flags aren't just reserved for the Fourth of July. One contributor points out that they had seen flags in parking lots, at banks, churches, schools and in front of houses.

3. Wearing the flag as a bikini.

Speaking of flags you can pick up your very own homage to America in Target for under $20.

4. Medication commercials

TekvideraTM is not for everyone.

TekvideraTM is not to be taken without consulting your doctor first about whether TekvideraTM is right for you.

TekvideraTM is not to be taken with alcohol or before driving or operating heavy machinery.

If you develop a sore throat, cough, stuffy nose, fatigue, loss of appetite, spatial awareness, forgetfulness, dry mouth, itching, dry skin, hair loss, discolored teeth, eyes or nails, or tenderness of the groin, this could be signs of a serious condition and you should seek your primary care physician immediately.

Side effects include heart arrhythmia, congestion, constipation, lightheadedness, color blindness, change in sexual appetite, weight loss, weight gain, weight staying the same, buying new shoes, manual breathing, disorientation, saving 15% on car insurance, loss of productivity, and depression.

5. Bill Nye (The Science Guy)

Bill! Bill! Bill! Bill!

6. Not getting paid maternity/paternity leave

Step it up, America.

7. Ice in every drink.

Americans find it strange when they're served luke warm water in foreign countries, but foreigners find it strange that Americans serve every drink with loads of ice.

8. Fruit and vegetable prices are higher than those of junk food.

America just can't get their pricing right.

9. We waste a lot of food.

I didn't realize how much food people wasted until I came to college. Our portions are big and a lot of Americans can't keep up.

10. Wacky Inflatable tube men at car dealerships.

Even Americans are kind of freaked out about these.

11. The gaps between the doors in public restrooms.

Everyone has made that awkward eye contact in a public restroom before.

12. Commercials for lawyers

They're printed on pamphlets, billboards, commercials, in hotel rooms and plastered on bus benches. These buggers are everywhere.

13. Drive thru everything

There are drive thrus for everything in america. You can get a cup of coffee, a burger, liquor, a gun and a marriage license all from the comfort of your car.

14. being cashless

The credit card is king. It makes sense because no one really carries traditional wallets around anymore. Petty cash would just be a bother to carry.

15. There are a lot of squirrels

And Americans are obsessed with them.

16. Obsession with coffee.

It's not a morning until Americans have had their coffee, unless you're a loser like me and prefer tea.

Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

bruce springsteen album cover born in the usa

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

3110
Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.
