There is something special about my day to day lifestyle that many people can understand. That something special is the device on my wrist that beeps hourly, reminding me to "get moving". The amount of Fitbit users in the world is continuing to rise. The community is stronger than ever. Fitbit users start to become Fitbit addicts, for plenty of reasons. I believe there are some specific situations all of us Fitbit lovers can relate to.
1. You have a love-hate relationship with Workweek Hustle.
Workweek Hustle is meant to be a motivational challenge for Fitbit users. You try to see who can get the most steps in a work week. Although, many times, it is frustrating watching everyone get more steps as you aren't walking as much as them.
2. A terrible feeling is forgetting to record your water goal, and then you can't remember how much water you drank.
If you are obsessed with your Fitbit, you probably add all of your statistics on the app. You add everything you've ate, your workouts, and of course, your water intake. If you forget or don't continue to add stats throughout the day, you often don't remember how much water you've drunk.
3. You bought multiple chargers, so you are always prepared.
Lovers of Fitbit can't go without their Fitbit. If the battery dies, no matter where you are, you're prepared. Although, that is a rookie mistake. Everyone knows to charge it while you are in the shower or not moving at all (on the couch).
5. You overestimate how far you walk.
You mean that walk to work or class wasn't 1,000 steps?
6. You run around your house at 11:50 p.m. if you haven't gotten enough steps in.
If your day doesn't end at 12 a.m., your steps don't count. Better run around at 11:50 p.m., or else.
7. You recognize that you aren't burning as many calories as you thought.
You're telling me that walking 10,000 steps a day won't burn 3,000 calories? A great feature of the Fitbit is the ability to program what you eat throughout the day and set it to a feature to try losing, gaining, or maintaining your weight. Sometimes, you assume your workout burned a lot more calories than it actually did.
8. You silently (or visibly) cry when you realize your Fitbit has been dead all day.
The worst feeling is when you forget to wear your Fitbit for the day. What comes to a very close first place is realizing you didn't charge it and you still have the Fitbit on your wrist. All those steps didn't count. Your friends probably thought you were dead.
9. No matter where you are, you announce you've hit 10,000 steps when it happens.
"I JUST GOT 10,000 STEPS!" All of your close friends know you have a Fitbit because you have declared when you hit your step goal to them. Even your office mates are probably well aware of your obsession.
10. You take pride in the "Fitbit tan".
You mean not everyone has the coolest tan line? A Fitbit tan line.
11. You walk in place every time you fold laundry or wash the dishes.
There is no reason to not hit your step goal when you have chores to do. Every time you should be doing something standing in one place is a time a Fitbit user will casually walk in place.
12. When people think your Fitbit goals are stupid, you take personal offense.
Seriously? Having a goal that makes you more active in day to day life ISN'T STUPID. If only they realized how far 10,000 steps really is, especially for someone that can't make the time to work out every day.
13. If your Fitbit is charging, you don't move from your couch.
There is no point in doing anything if it doesn't count for steps. This may show who the true Fitbit addicts are.
14. Your joy when you see someone else's wrist with a Fitbit on it is very visible.
There is no question about it. If someone has a Fitbit on their wrist and you sit next to them in class, you want to add them as your friend. You may not ask. You are for sure thinking about it, though.
Fitbit's aren't a joke. They are a lifestyle choice. I can guarantee that if you have one, you will slowly develop a personal love for your device. If you don't have one, join the club. We all work together every day to motivate and reach our 10,000 steps.
Get with the program.
