15 Classes We All Wished Existed in College: The Sorority Girl's Edition

As we make our way through our college years, we find ourselves becoming more and more preoccupied with *cringe* adulthood. When we are freshmen, everything is shiny and new; collectively we chant, "Being independent is fun!" (Never mind the fact that the majority of our parents are still paying for everything).

While our heads are stuck deep inside the freshmen bubble, the first year of college exists in order to meet new people, explore your identity and hardly think about full-on marriage yet (unless of course you’re a serial monogamist). Upon exiting the freshman dorms, you tearfully pack up your car in May and head home for an awkward high-school friend filled summer.

Moving on to sophomore year, you get to know the older pledge classes in your sorority through the thrilling experience we call recruitment and "in house" living. You’re friends with the seniors on Facebook and right around November you begin to see copious amounts of Engagement photos popping up around you. Concerned for your future, your mother starts suggesting you travel in some other social circles besides downtown and you get involved in some clubs in order to befriend some cute boys in your classes and church. Life is going on. You are growing up.

Before you know it, you find yourself registering for third year classes. What is happening? Could I possibly be GROWING UP!? How does the real world sound so fun? I know I've reached a milestone for when I can't wait to decorate my house and  throw a couple parties during the holidays.

Senior year rolls around and you’ve reached the home stretch; this doesn't not feel real. I’m still eighteen right? RIGHT? You've only got nine hours left and you can't bring yourself to plan your immediate future. Challenging academics have helped to shape our lives, however they haven't truly taught us all the vital life lessons that we'll need in the real world.

Here are some classes we all wish existed in college to help us get through the important things in college; friendships, relationships, and most importantly the future.

Freshman Year

1. How to Dress for Class 1102: Considered to be a cake class, the rules are simple enough to memorize. No shower shoes in public, no lanyards around the neck and definitely no tight t-shirts.

2. How to Study without Facebook Distractions 1103: The basics of shutting off your computer and actually learning the arts of reading, writing and focusing.

3. How to Meet Boys Outside of Downtown 1104: The art of getting phone numbers without using alcohol as a prompt. This would be a revelatory class for the masses.

4. Living with a Roommate 1101: How not to kill them and the art of passive aggression.

Sophomore Year

5. Living in a Srat/Frat Castle 2002: It really does feel like a movie, a montage of late night pizzas and 24/7 shenanigans.
Breakout Sessions: How to study, Controlled Chaos, and Living with Crazy.

6. Getting to Class with a Moderate Hangover 2001: Sure, it is really only ONE packed bus ride away, and maybe you’ll grind up against a few guys. But HEY, be confident! You've been taught that you're most beautiful when wearing comfy leggings, a big t-shirt, sporting last night's make up and smelling like a strange mixture of Taaka and tears.

7. The Art of Pulling Yourself Together in 15 minutes or Less 2120:  Flustered and overwhelmed, this class would test your ability to "keep your cool." There would be relay races and memory tests where you would have to piece together your night in under five minutes and still manage to snag a ride home.
Breakout session: Shacking 1109.

8. Creeping Effortlessly 2150: This class would exist in order to teach you how to utilize social media as your best friend.

Junior Year

9. How to have Fun Without Going Downtown 3001: The real world is out there and there are limitless options that provide alternatives in fun. Sky diving? Hiking? Reading a book? Having a BBQ with friends?

10. The Art of Juggling a Relationship and Class 3050: It's nearly impossible, but with the help of this class, time management would be an overarching theme.

11. Decorating for All Seasons 3100: Once enrolled in this class, I promise you that your house will be the envy of all your friends. Taught by none other than guest professor Martha Stewart herself, you're in for a treat.
Breakout Group: Pottery Barn is life (Only offered in fall when the 'leaves are crunchy' and you must be #basic to enroll)

12. How to look like a Goddess in your Boyfriend's Stolen Clothes 3111: If you've made it into the relationship stage, then you're more than entitled to steal a shirt or two.
Summer: Lettered t-shirts, PFGs.
Fall: Plaid, flannel button ups are best.
Winter: Patagonia or Columbia fleece, obviously.
Spring: Long sleeve t-shirts.

Senior Year
13. Preventing Senioritis 4100: Tricks and recommendations to starve off the procrastination of senior year. You’re in the home stretch!

14. Growing Up and Asserting Independence 4130: So you want to move away from Georgia and join the circus? Go for it! This is your future and you just finished undergraduate, explore, feast and learn.

15. Resume 4230: Making sure your resume is perfect for the real world so future employers can see how intensively involved and perfect you really are.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:
