17 Fun Activities To Include In Your Holiday Plans

It's the holiday season! Whether you celebrate Christmas, Kwanza, Hanukkah, or another holiday, there are many amazing things to do this time of the year! It's important to spread cheer, not just to your friends and family, but to strangers who need help during this time too. Watch the classic Christmas movies, spend time with the family, count your blessings, and make the best of the season!

1. Spread the holiday cheer!

2. Go ice skating...maybe with someone special?

3. Bake cookies. Many people have a family tradition of baking cookies together. Just because you may be away from home, don't let that stop the tradition! Bake with the family when you get home or bake with friends.

4. Do something nice for someone else. Whether you volunteer at the food bank, donate clothes to charity, or volunteer at the animal shelter, try to make someone else smile. Remember, it's the holiday of giving, not just receiving.

5. If you have colder weather, make snow angels and participate in other winter activities like snowball fights!

6. Build a snowman!

7. Watch classic Christmas movie because what would Christmas be without "The Polar Express"?

8. Decorate with some Christmas lights, but remember to take the necessary safety precautions!

9. Decorate the Christmas tree! Please don't get the upside-down ones that hold more presents, classic Christmas trees are much better.

10. Regardless of age, embrace Santa!

11. It may be annoying when played in October, but embrace the Christmas music.

12. It's finals time. Take some time and decorate your dorm. It'll change things up a bit and remind you how close you are to break (both motivating you to finish your work and exciting you for the time off)!

13. See a Christmas play, remembering why the holiday is celebrated and supporting your community.

14. When thinking about gifts to get people, consider making some by hand. Buying things from the store are nice, but it'll show how much time and thought you put into it if you make some yourself.

15. Spread love and feel blessed for all the amazing people in your life.

16. Whatever you end up doing, have a wonderful time and do whatever and eat whatever you want.

17. Have fun!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
