I love turtles and everything about them. From their shells to their silly personalities. Although it does not seem like it, turtles have a lot of personality which is one of the many reasons that makes them as great as they are. They are one of my favorite animals, and here are some of the reasons why!

1. Their shell is a part of their skeleton.

Contrary to popular belief, turtles cannot actually come out of their shells. It is a part of them and grows with them, so they can never "outgrow" their shell.

2. Most of them can retract their entire head into their shells.

Some species are unable to put their heads completely in their shell. However, it is more common than not.

3. They are one of the oldest living reptiles.

They have been on Earth for about 220 million years! They were even around before dinosaurs when extinct.

4. Their diet changes as they get older.

When turtles are first born, they have a protein diet, so they eat mostly worms and fish; it helps with their growth and development. Once they reach full size, however, their diet changes to eating mostly plants.

5. Turtles have a long lifespan.

It is not uncommon for them to live over 100 years old. The oldest one in history lived to be 188.

6. Turtles can hold their breath for hours underwater.

Even though they can, they usually don't do this. They usually come up for air every 5-10 minutes.

7. The Leatherback Sea Turtle can run up to 6 MPH.

And everyone says turtles are slow. Psh, they can move pretty fast.

8. Turtles live on every continent except Antarctica.

Turtles mostly live in warmer climates and Antarctica is too cold to support them.

9. Sea turtles sometimes visit where they were born.

Female sea turtles often times are found going back to the same beach where they were born.

10. Turtles can cry.

No, they are not sad. Sea turtles have salt that gets into their eyes, so they cry to remove it.

11. The temperature can influence their gender.

There are usually more female hatchlings when the environment the warmer and more males when it is cooler.

12. Sea turtle eggs look like ping pong balls.

Although they look like ping pong balls, do not play with them! Turtles are endangered, so not kill the unborn children!

13. They are adorable!

I mean, just look at it!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
