Moving into college is definitely an adjustment. The new life you’re beginning is full of excitement, fear, and butterflies. Coming into this experience, I was nervous because I had never lived with anybody before, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to be sharing my entire life with somebody. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to have found a roommate that’s my best friend. I am forever grateful to have somebody so patient, loving, and fun around me for the next four years. Sometimes I feel like I don’t thank you enough, so here’s a reminder of how much I truly appreciate having you around.

1. Thank you for the infinite number of laughs.

The time we thought ordering pizza at 2 a.m. was a good idea, but instead, we ended up falling asleep when it was delivered. You’re the person I come to for a laugh, and I can always count on you to make my day a little better.

2. Thank you for the time you told me everything was going to be okay.

Whether it was a bad test or it just wasn’t my day, your wise words helped me keep my head up. I can always count on your happy spirit to lighten my mood.

3. Thank you for the time you helped me when that boy broke my heart.

You were right when you told me my tears were temporary, and so was the boy. I’m sorry for all those tears, but for what it’s worth; you are definitely my favorite shoulder to cry on.

4. Thank you for using the buddy system with me.

I know I’m 19 and still can’t go to the bathroom by myself, but I appreciate you always taking one for the team and tagging along.

5. Thank you for making bad decisions with me.

Remember leaving alcohol in the defrosted freezer over winter break, and then forgetting we left ice cream in there too? And how we sometimes forget that it’s only appropriate to call a professor by their first name if we are strictly speaking to each other?

6. Thank you for being really weird with me.

There is nobody else I would rather communicate with via Instagram meme or Twitter DM.

7. Thank you for getting me food when I’m too lazy to get out of bed.

I’m sorry that sometimes I don’t move unless forced, but HGTV is just way too addicting.

8. Thank you for making me get out of bed in general.

It’s tough, but I appreciate the motivation.

9. Thank you for helping me when I’m sick.

You always bring me tissues and make sure I’ve eaten. If I’m sick during the night you hold my hair back and make sure I get home safe.

10. Thank you for never breaking girl code.

I know you sometimes have to hold my hand and act like we’re dating, but desperate times call for desperate needs.

11. Thank you for your patience.

I know I’m overly emotional, and sometimes I have nothing to talk about but my problems, but you are always there listening.

12. Finally, thank you for being my best friend.

Without you, I would be missing out on a lot in life. I can ALWAYS count on you for any situation, good or bad. I learn from you, get strength from you, and rely on you. But actually, what would I do without you telling me that my time dancing on the table has now expired? I’m very lucky to have a roommate like you, and there is nobody else I would want to share my four-year journey with.

Xoxo,

Your favorite roomie ;)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
