12 Reasons Why Winter Is The Best

Winter is the best time of year and if you think otherwise, I definitely have some reasons to help change your mind.

1. Cold Weather makes me happy.

It’s so much better to be cold than to be constantly dripping in sweat, and everyone will agree with that

2. You get to show off your amazing sweaters.

You can really wear any type of cute winter outfit and show it off to everyone. AND everyone has had to have at least one ugly Christmas sweater they’re always dying to wear during the season.

3. The nonstop shuffle of Christmas songs.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year..” and no one can argue with that. I blast those songs like crazy and scream all the words.

4. Hot Chocolate all day, all season.

Hot chocolate for breakfast. Hot chocolate for lunch. Hot chocolate for dinner. I think it’s safe to say that I basically substitute hot chocolate for water.

5. Front yards are decorated with Snowmen.

Snow families are the cutest.

6. There are Christmas lights everywhere.

All the houses on each street make the outsides glow and sparkle, either with white lights or multicolored lights. Christmas would not be complete without a decorative wreath hanging on your front door.

7. Snow days are the best days.

Waking up and seeing the streets covered in snow, you automatically get that feeling where you know you can sit in bed all day long and not feel bad about it.

8. All the classic Christmas specials.

Home Alone, A Christmas Story, Charlie Brown’s Christmas, Elf, The Grinch, literally any Christmas movie is a great movie.

9. Bundling up to go anywhere outside your house.

Scarves, gloves, hats, jackets, boots. You name it.

10. Skiing and sledding is a must.

I have been skiing since I was about three years old and it has to be my favorite thing to do in the winter. And sledding with the neighborhood kids when I was younger was always the #1 thing we did to start our snow days.

11. Fires every night.

Warm fires every night with the families are always the way to end the nights.

12. Fancy Starbucks Cups.

There’s a certain thing about snowflakes that make them beautiful and that’s because each and every snowflake is unique and different than one another.

I could go on and on about why winter is my favorite season (not only because it's my birthday season). I've always loved the snow and cold weather, and I am at my happiest when it's winter time.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
