12 Reasons Why Christmas is the King of Holidays

As finals come to a close we'll finally be able to relax and enjoy Christmas the way we should. Christmas is my all time favorite holiday as we celebrate the birth of baby Jesus with gifts among your family and friends. Some people hate Christmas, but I'm here to tell you that it's the King of holidays and if you don't believe me hopefully this list will change your mind.

1. Gifts

Okay, I know Christmas is not all about gifts. But I think it's nice to feel appreciated and to see that someone went out of there way to spend money on you.

2. Family Time

I love my family and Christmas time is the only time we spend the entire day together at home. Most of the time we get annoyed by each other after 5 minutes, but it was nice while it lasted.

3. Cookies

Christmas cookies are the bomb.

4. Eggnog

Not a lot of people like eggnog, but to me eggnog is the Queen of all holiday drinks.

5. Hot chocolate

Hot chocolate is the King of holiday drinks. It is not Christmas if you are not drinking hot coca in your pajamas while you open gifts.

6. The Music

Do ever hear people singing Easter carols? No, because they don't exist. Christmas time is when you'll hear festive music that makes you feel. There are sad Christmas songs, happy Christmas songs and songs that make you want to dance around the tree.

7. Baby Jesus

Personally, my favorite thing about Christmas is hearing the story of the birth of Jesus. Not everyone is religious, but I think that we can all agree that it is one of the most beautiful story ever told.

8. No school

Christmas marks winter break which is usually about 3 or 4 weeks long if you're in college. You don't know what your GPA will look like, but you might as well enjoy those presents while it lasts.

9. Ugly Sweaters

Ugly Christmas sweaters never go out of style. You can wear them every single year and it would still be the ugliest sweater anyone has ever seen.

10. A Christmas Story

This is one of the greatest Christmas movies ever made. It comes on year after year and after 3 decades it never fails to entertain.

11. Every Christmas Movie

I'm lying because there is a huge selection of A+ Christmas movies to choose from like the Polar Express, which is as amazing as A Christmas Story.

12. Santa

Okay spoiler alert, Santa Claus isn't real, but I like to think that someone like him exists in the world bringing Christmas cheer to those in need.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
