It's officially April. April is a full month at Bloomsburg University and it can be a lot to take in, especially for a freshman. You might be thinking about finals right now, but quite a few things happen before that. Here are 11 things that happen in April in Bloomsburg.

1. Block Party

This is pretty much the most attention our school gets aside from the fair. Some people love it. Some people (those who live in town) hate it. Unfortunately, it's a tradition that students just aren't willing to give up.

2. Date Nights

Date nights are a fun time for frats and sororities. The social aspect of each is ramped up and it's another collegiate tradition where most take place at the end of the year.

3. The Big Event

The Big Event is one of the best ways for this school to basically help out and also somewhat apologize for the madness that is Block Party. Students sign up with an organization on campus that they are involved in and get assignments around town to help out the community. It's a nice way to give back and is heavily participated in.

4. Relay For Life

Another fundraiser that is very much participated in and another great way to give back at school. Like the big event, you sign up with a campus group and set up a booth that raises money from your group and goes the American Cancer Society.

5. Club Elections

At the end of the semester, most clubs and organizations will hold elections for the next semester in the fall. Many freshmen use this as an opportunity to take on a leadership role in their organizations. It looks great on resumes and gives you more to add to your schedule.

6. Graduation Preparations

Seniors, on the other hand, have to start looking towards their future when they leave Bloomsburg and begin preparing to walk with their class. The younger classmen and professors also prepare to say goodbye to those beginning their careers.

7. Internships

Have an internship this summer? The school year ends in May and many begin their internship schedules in June, but some start earlier. An internship is a classic college experience and a great career boost. Most take place in the summer, so many students look forward to that at the end of the year.

8. Sports Playoffs

You can easily find many intramural sports teams holding their team play-offs at the rec at the end of the year. Sport teams begin to finish off their seasons and thinking about the next season.

9. The Lunch Cart

Once it finally gets warm, the lunch carts make an appearance which gets most students pretty excited. It's a signal that it's finally spring and it pretty much takes over a student's day in the month of April.

10. College of Liberal Arts Symposiums

Definitely an important event for those who have a liberal arts major. The symposium is a good way to get research done in an area of study and learn from alumni. Some of the events occur in March and follow into April.

11. The Renaissance Fair in Town

The Renaissance fair in town happens every year over one weekend in April. It's another interesting event held by the town and important to the locals other than the fair.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
