Finals are almost over and summer is so close, you can actually taste it. You've conquered another year of college and you finally get to go home! But just remember, as the school year draws to a close, and you slide into "lazy college student mode" for four months, summer break can have its own set of emotional ups and downs.

1. Being so ecstatic to finally be done with finals and research papers.

2. Experiencing the gratitude that comes with sleeping in your own bed for four months straight.

3. Realizing you get to spend time with all of your old friends again.

4. Then realizing you also need to get a job.

5. Being endlessly annoyed with your mom because you still haven't unpacked and she keeps nagging you about it.

6. When it's mid-June and you really start missing your school friends.

7. But you've still yet to miss the dining hall food.

8. Getting pumped to buy all new school supplies and dorm room decor.

9. Thinking you still have a month left of summer, then finding out move-in is in a week.

10. Saying goodbye to your family, friends, and most importantly, your dog.

11. Driving back to campus, realizing summer is actually over, and once again getting smacked in the face with all of your responsibilities.

Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
