"Wow, she's such an over-achiever!" If you're like me, you probably hear that a lot. Sorry that I like to challenge myself, okay? Why should it matter to anyone else if I like to get my homework done three days before it is due or that I am involved in at least six extracurricular activities? When did being an "over-achiever" become associated with a such a negative connotation? I'm a self proclaimed over-achiever, and if you don't like it, that's okay because I'm going places with or without you. There's nothing better than being successful, and if you can relate to any of these 11 signs, you, too, are probably an "over-achiever."
1. You KNOW that you can always do better!
I guess what they say is right- You are your own worst critic.
2. You don't/won't give up... ever.
Like really, it is impossible for you to back down.
3. You're always on the move.
Take a five minute break? Are you crazy?
4. You're not that good at receiving criticism.
"Excuse me, what...?"
5. You have approximately 5 panic attacks a day.
Maybe one day they will stop. #WishfulThinking
6. You always bite off more than you can chew.
Sure, I will help you edit your paper. Right after I apply to grad school, attend seven meetings, grab lunch with my long lost friend, and write an email to my pen pal.
7. You're overly involved in extracurriculars.
At least you have a closet full of free t-shirts from each club and organization.
8. If you haven't completed your assignments a week before the due date, you have failed.
The early bird gets the worm, right?
What does "procrastination" even mean?
10. You haven't had time to eat a real meal in days.
Good thing you hit up the gym everyday.
11. Free time? What's that?
It doesn't exist.
If you're an over-achiever, consider yourself lucky. Most people can't do what we do. Even though your busy schedule might be trailing off the edge of your planner and you haven't had a decent night's sleep since you were in kindergarten, your had work will not go unnoticed. It all pays off in the end!
