Do you ever look back and wish you were 5-years-old again? When we were young, we were carefree and filled with joy. However, as we grew older, our lives became tainted with responsibility and the negativity of society. We were exposed to hate, stereotypes, heartbreak and failure. Although it is impossible to avoid these things, it is important that we remember a few life lessons from our younger selves.
1. Tomorrow is a new day
When we were young, the scars from the playground never stopped us from going to recess the next day. Don't let yesterday stop you from conquering today.
2. Laugh every day
The average child laughs 300 to 500 times a day while the average adult laughs only about 15 times a day. Don't be that statistic!
3. Be honest
A 5-year-old will tell it like it is. We should learn to do the same.
4. Be yourself
Have you ever seen a 5-year-old think twice about something that they do? When we were young, we were never afraid to be ourselves. Why should it be any different now?
5. Learn to apologize
Apologizing isn't as hard as we make it seem. All it takes is two words.
6. Always say thank you
Manners was one of the first things that our parents taught us. You can never say thank you enough to those who you appreciate.
7. Dream big
When we were little, we dreamed about being princesses and super heroes. No matter what age you are, you should never stop believing and trying to achieve your dreams.
8. Don’t take no for an answer
Remember when you always got the cookie from the cookie jar no matter how many times mom said no? Never give up on the things that you want the most.
9. Accept others for who they are
Before we grew older, we loved everyone unconditionally. We didn't know about stereotypes or hate; we just accepted everyone as they were. We should learn from that.
10. Enjoy the little things in life
It's the little things in life that count. Appreciate the avocados in your life!
11. Don’t be afraid to live life
When we were young, we never hesitated to try new things. We weren't afraid of what people would think of us, what would happen if we failed or what the outcome would be. We should all be as courageous as we were when we were 5-years-old.
