11 Of The Easiest And Most Creative Ways To Decorate Your Dorm For The Holidays

The winter holidays are right around the corner and in no time, it will be November, and then Thanksgiving, and then Christmas! It's time to start thinking about decorations. And if you're living in a tiny cement-block shoe box of a dorm room, then you're probably ready to start decorating so you can forget about the small space you're living in. Here are the best ways to decorate your dorm in the easiest, but most creative ways possible.

1. Hang Christmas LIGHTS

Hang as many strands of lights as you possibly can to turn your boring dorm room into a winter wonderland.

2. Cover All Of Your Windows With Gel Clings

There are millions of different window clings that are Christmas-themed, and some are adorable.

3. Or Make Your Own

All you need is hot glue, parchment paper, and LOTS of glitter.

4. Put Up A Mini Christmas Tree

You might not have enough space for a full-sized tree, but a mini Christmas tree fits in the smallest spaces (and your budget!) to light up the room.

5. Or Put Your Christmas Tree On The Wall

Maybe you don't even have room for a mini tree, but you surely have enough wall space to make a tree out of Christmas lights! And then add ornaments for an even cooler effect.

6. Get a Wreath to Hang on the Door

Surprisingly, the dollar store has a incredible decoration selection, including wreaths. But if you can't find one you like there, make your own! Buy a styrofoam ring at Michael's and then glue on anything Christmas-y, like the bows on this one.

7. Get a festive plug-in

It's not Christmas if it doesn't smell like Christmas! Get a plug-in that smells like pine, cinnamon apple, or freshly baked cookies to make your dorm smell especially festive. (Or just make cookies, if you have a kitchen!)

8. Reuse Some Old Bottles By Painting Them

Paint bottles either a pretty red or green color and then fill them with pine, holly, or fake flowers to display on your desk or table.

9. Decorate Your Door Like A Fireplace

If you're living in a dorm with boring white walls, what's a better way to spice up the whole building than decorating your door?? I definitely recommend creating a fireplace like shown here.

10. Or Make A Real Fireplace

If you have the space, create a real fireplace in your living room out of boxes and construction paper or wrapping paper! You'll have a place to put the tree next to, a place to hang the stockings, and a place for Santa to enter with all his gifts.

11. Lastly, Cut Out Lots Of Paper Snowflakes

It will give you something to do while you watch Netflix and they'll look great hanging everywhere in your room! Added bonus: you can leave them up all winter long.

Have fun decorating! And HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
