After Thanksgiving, all of a sudden it is like we fast forward straight to December, ignoring the last week of November and it's Christmas time. Everywhere you go, you see or hear something related to Christmas. You know it's that time of year when there are:

1. Advertisements everywhere

As a kid, you looked forward to the day when the big Toys R Us Christmas catalog came in the mall so you could circle all the things you want. Whether you’re looking at magazines or commercials, there will be something Christmas related everywhere.

2. Santa is already making an appearance in the Thanksgiving Day Parade

Probably the reason Christmas is everywhere before the start of December is the fact that Santa makes a special appearance in the NYC Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Yeah… THANKSGIVING Day Parade yet there are Christmas aspects of it which doesn't seem logical.

3. Themed parties

Themed parties are always fun but especially when they are Christmas themed. Whether it's an ugly sweater party or a party where everyone dresses up like Santa, Mrs. Clause or the elves, it's always a good time.

4. Christmas trees are up

The weekend after Thanksgiving, everyone starts rushing to put up their artificial Christmas trees or to go and chop down a real one. When driving through town, you’ll see both Christmas trees in people’s windows and freshly cut trees on the roofs of everyone’s cars.

5. Decorations are everywhere

You live for the calming drives around the neighborhood where you can just look at everyone’s houses decked out in Christmas lights and blow-ups. You have a special place in your heart for the houses who went all out you couldn’t even see the ground. And they had their lights programmed to their own radio station (you always begged your parents to be THOSE people).

6. Starbucks is using their holiday cups

Nothing screams the holiday season more than the cute festive cups at Starbucks and the unlimited amount of Peppermint Mocha Lattes, Gingerbread Lattes, and Hot Chocolate. And the cups just made the drink taste even better.

7. People are sending out Christmas party invitations

Your parents get all the invitations to Christmas parties yet somehow you never cop the invite.

8. Christmas lists are being made

Everyone keeps asking you what you want for Christmas, and you always say “I don’t know”, but in reality, your list is like 10 pages long.

9. Christmas music won’t stop playing

Every restaurant, store, and dorm room will be playing the best Christmas tunes all the way from Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas Is You” to Justin Bieber’s classic “Under the Mistletoe” Christmas album (you know this was your fave).

10. Christmas movies are on every channel

This was and forever will be gold. You’re welcome, enjoy!!!

Easily the best time of year, so why not have it around for a whole month anyway? Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, everyone enjoys the holiday time, because after all who doesn't love Christmas?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
