10 Thoughts College Students Are Having Right Now

College students are settling back into the rigorous routine after their much-needed tropical excursions or Netflix binges and now it is crunch time. Although the weather is becoming warmer and there are people laughing in the quad, I know many of us college students are beginning to panic. There are so many questions running through our minds every day at 1000 miles per minute. Here are just a few:

1. What classes will I take in the fall semester?

With requirements galore and registration times being posted, I know myself and fellow college students feel the pressure piling on. There is nothing worse than sitting in front of your computer and watching the number of open seats in your required class drop lower and lower...

2. Where will I live next semester?

As I have heard, college Housing Assignments can be an absolute nightmare. On-campus or off-campus? Apartment or dormitory? Greek life? Commute? Something as simple as shelter becomes very complex to us college students.

3. Who will I live with next semester?

Potentially the most rewarding or detrimental aspect of college—who are you willing to get ready in the morning with no lights on for? Who are you willing to compromise most of your life habits for? Who can you trust your things with? Only time and trust shall tell.

4. What will I do this summer?

College offers the longest break from schoolwork that any of us have ever had—three months of pure, uninterrupted free time. Are you planning a vacation with your newfound besties or slumber parties with your long-lost high school BFFs?

5. Where will I work this summer?

With this beautiful "three months of pure, uninterrupted free time" comes the reality that you probably need money in order to survive the next year of college, so getting a job may come in handy. Or perhaps it is time for you to start looking into internships and polishing off that resume?

6. Only about two months left. Time flew by!

It feels like in the blink of an eye, we: applied to college, got accepted to college, chose a college and now the year is almost over.

7. How will I get through these last two months?

Or you potentially feel the exact opposite of thought number 6 and you have no clue how you are going to survive the next two months. (Probably with lots of Ben and Jerry's and Netflix episodes.)

8. How many episodes of Netflix can I watch tonight?

It is a constant debate in my mind every night whether or not to press "Next Episode" on Netflix.

9. How will I live without the self-serve ice cream machine?

It is the simple things in life that make college lovely, like the self-serve ice cream machine. It is exceptionally amazing when they have rainbow sprinkles.

10. Am I happy?

College is an optimal time for self-discovery and self-reflection. Be sure to take the time to think about whether or not you are happy with your current lifestyle. If you aren't, make a plan to change a few things. Happiness with oneself is key!

Even with all of these thoughts filling your mind, remember to love yourself each and every day. Do not allow yourself to be caught up. You will find the answers to all of these questions when the time is just right.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
