It's about that time to break out the sunscreen, the sunglasses, and most importantly the whistle. If you're like me, you've been anticipating summer for some time now and it's finally here. You probably have a love/hate relationship with lifeguarding.
Here are 10 struggles all lifeguards can relate to.
1. Reminding everyone to walk:
Just do it.
2. You cant stop scanning:
It doesn't matter where you are, your constantly staring at people to make sure they're OK. Just make sure they don't stare back.
3. Lifeguard tan:
The picture explains it all.
4.Praying for a storm:
I think we all have a rain dance.
5. That one kid who swims in the rain:
Just why?
6.That feeling of despair because you might actually have to save someone
Please don't drown.
7.In-service trainings:
What? You mean I actually have to practice,
8. "You have a easy job":
No, my job is not easy. You try sitting in 80 degree weather eight hours a day, seven days a week.
9. Being a babysitter/ swim instructor/ janitor/ saving lives:
Yes, it is possible to do all four at the same time.
10. Constantly contemplating quitting, but realizing you love your job:
Even through all the long hot days of summer, you know you wouldn't give up your whistle for anything else in the world.
