October is almost near, and the decorations are already here. Every store that I have been in has an array of October themed decorations that are just waiting to be bought. From Halloween to the Fall fashion, every store is prepared for the upcoming month. The weather is changing and so is the spirit. There are so many different reasons why October is Awesome.

1. Halloween

This is the month where dressing up like a ghoul, a ghost, or a witch will not result in receiving a "look at that weirdo" response from people you walk past. This is the month to enjoy being someone other than yourself, whether it be at a halloween party or going trick-or treating. Not only do you get to dress-up however you want, you can eat all the candy you want all month without being judged.

2. Pumpkin Flavors are back

This is the month to enjoy EVERYTHING pumpkin. I don't know about you but I love pumpkins. Everything about pumpkins from, the smell, to the taste, and the color is AWESOME. Almost every store is selling pumpkin themed products. From pumpkin spice cappuccino's to pumpkin pie scented candles, you will see a variety of different pumpkin products while you are shopping.

3. Homecoming

At UAlbany, Homecoming weekend is huge. From the football game on Friday to the non-stop parties that come after. People at this school look forward to friends coming to visit and the excessive amount of fun that will be provided that weekend.

This month is Breast Cancer Awareness month, which is a month dedicated to increasing the awareness of the disease. The Breast Cancer walk is always scheduled for this month and has been since it began. I highly recommend everyone to attend this years Breast Cancer walk and make a difference.

All of your favorite Disney halloween themed movies and tv series are back for the month of October. Movies like Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus, Little Vampire, the Scream Team, and many more Halloween classics are highly anticipated each October. As for tv shows, every disney tv show has an episode dedicated to halloween that Disney shows them all. This is a perfect time to binge watch all of your favorite halloween themed tv shows and movies on Disney channel.

6. Boot Season Begins

If you are like me, you LOVE boots. Boot season is in full-effect and if you haven't been looking at all the new trends, then your missing out. Stores like Macy's and Nordstrom are having great sales on their boots this season. I suggest that everyone get involved in this years boot season, because it is looking great.

7. Six Flags Fright Fest

Aside from all of the haunted houses, fright fest is one of the most anticipated haunted events of October. Hundreds of monsters and zombies lurk the pathways of 6 Flags amusement park terrifying the people that dare to walk past them. The popular park is packed this time of year with thousands of people that want to engage in the scary yet exhilarating event. This event of course only happens in October.

8. Sweater Weather

Let the sweater weather commence. The season is changing and so is the weather. Fall fashion is warm yet so chic. Oh, and don't get me started on the colors. Colors such as mustard, burgundy, olive green, and creme are traditional fall fashion colors that everyone loves to wear. Don't get me wrong these colors are enjoyed all year round, but they are the most popular beginning in October.

9.The Color of the Leaves Change

There is nothing more beautiful than the color of the leaves changing when a tree dies. It is a beautiful death, that gradually leads to a tree without any leaves on it. It is happening right now, as you are reading this article. Do not forget how beautiful nature is. Stop and take a look at your environment every once in a while.

10. Apple Picking

Like every other tree in Fall, the apple tree dies as well. This is not a completely. bad thing, because people get to experience the apple picking festivities before all the apples rot. This can be a family/friend outing or simply just a cute little date with your significant other. Either way, apple picking is fun and tasty.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
