If you haven't seen Netflix's The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, you need to "get the duck over there." For the rest of us, here are ten reasons that Kimberly Cougar Schmidt is the ultimate role model.
1. She's way too relatable.
Pretty much everything out of her mouth relates to real life problems in some way or another. With her quirky, awkward and sometimes just airheaded ways, Kimmy truly is all of us.
2. She's pretty much the best friend a person could ask for.
Sometimes she's a bit of a "yes-girl", but truth be told Jacqueline would never make it through the day without Kimmy.
3. She's determined to make the best of every situation.
I mean, the girl spent 15 years in an underground bunker and her spirit stayed strong. She's the ultimate embodiment of "every cloud has a silver lining", and she certainly finds every last one of them. Talk about glass half full, amirite?
4. She's full of childlike wonder.
From her first day in New York, Kimmy is fascinated and awed by every new thing she encounters. There's a whole wide world out there and she's discovering more of it every day. It kind of makes us look at everything we take for granted, considering how much she appreciates most things.
5. She accepts everybody and their differences.
Kimmy has dealt with just a few people for her entire life. Now that she's out in the real world, her social circle is always growing and changing - and she hasn't always been exposed to the best of people (I'm looking at you, Logan), but she manages to find some good in every person she comes across.
6. She has a huge heart.
Along with her optimism and acceptance, Kimmy is just an overall good person. She finds a way to help in the majority of situations and tries her best to turn every frown upside down. She's also a genius when it comes to solving problems and is always happy to help.
7. She doesn't let what happened to her define her.
When she first gets to New York, Kimmy decides to let the traumas of her past go and to move on from them. She makes a point to not dwell on the past or even mention it most of the time. While this repression can be, and is, harmful, her desire to live a normal life without the Mole Woman title looming over her is impressive.
8. She's the comeback queen.
Everything Xan dishes out, Kimmy throws right back. They don't always land, of course, but when they do it's totally gif-able. Kimmy is the queen of thinking up comebacks on the spots desirable trait even when not everything out of her mouth is gold.
9. Her flawless French.
This is just one example. Honorable mentions include "What in the ham sandwich?", "Gosh darn mommy fudger", and "Shut your wet mouth".
