It's time to face the music: autumn is coming, which means summer is ending. For those like me who dread the first couple weeks of September, whether it's because of school starting or the sudden loss of warm weather, there are some good things that come along with this changing of season Here are 10 reasons to look forward to autumn and get you out of your end-of-summer funk.

1. Fall Foliage

When I think of autumn, I think of all the leaves changing colors and falling to the ground in a perfect combination of red, orange, and yellow. There is nothing better than walking down the street during the fall and being greeted by an array of warm colors beneath your feet.

2. Sweater Season

That sweatshirt you've been wanting to wear all summer long but couldn't because of the sweltering heat? This is the time to break it out!

3. Crisp Fall Air

I love waking up in the morning and walking outside into the cool and crisp air that fall brings. It is refreshing for both your skin and your mood. Sometimes the best way to wake up is to walk outside and take in the smells and sights of a beautiful fall morning.

4. TV Shows Come Back On

Your favorite television shows are no longer repeats! Anything from "Bones" to "Grey's Anatomy,"there is always a new episode to watch. You can finally say goodbye to that long summer hiatus!

5. More Pumpkins Than You Can Count

Soon enough, everywhere you look there will be bright orange pumpkins to carve, bake, and eat. Who doesn't love carving a pumpkin next to a big bowl of candy corn and a warm fire?

6. Halloween

Don't let anyone tell you you're too old for trick-or-treating and costumes, because you're not. So get out there in your awesome costume and get yourself some candy! You know you love it.

7. Thanksgiving

The time to eat all you want, watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade or football, and spend some quality time with your family. After all that, eat some more, it's Thanksgiving!

8. Football

Ah, football season. Tailgating, jerseys, and celebration. Whether you're watching a game on television or out on the field playing, football is a game that brings people together, so take advantage of it. Don't forget the Super Bowl! Never deny rocking out and dancing to whoever is performing, embrace it!

9. No Shave November

No matter your gender, shaving during the fall is less frequent. Ladies trade in their shorts and shirts for pants and sweaters, and gentlemen take part in a fun month of no shaving to raise awareness for cancer patients who have lost their hair. It's a great time to show off those beards!

10. Ugg Season

It's time to break out those Uggs girls and boys! Your feet will never be cold again this season.

As a student going into senior year of high school, I can say that these fall treasures make me look forward to getting cozy in my new sweaters and read a good book while the leaves fall down outside my window. I hope this helps your (end of) summertime sadness, and gets you in the mood for autumn!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
