We all know that during the semester, we can feel weighed down. We can also feel like we can conquer anything that we do and have the time of our life. Here are 10 quotes to keep in mind for 2020 as we all head into a new semester.

1. "Get out of your own way."

I feel like this one is a good one to always have. We are the most critical of ourselves. So when you have that presentation and you are feeling stressed about, trust your abilities. If you are blocking yourself from a great experience, don't because it will influence you in ways you couldn't even imagine.

2. "Everyday may not be good, but there's good in everyday."

We all struggle at one point or another during the semester. We all have those days where we feel like we didn't succeed or do a as well as we hoped. It's so important to see the good in everyday and be thankful for the day we had. Those hard days only make us stronger.

3. "Everything is a choice."

We need to remember that we choose to be involved with the clubs/organizations we are part of. We chose our classes, and we chose to be a college student. We also chose to be friends with the people we are close with. If things are not going well, or if they are, just know you have control over everything. Do what's best for yourself, and don't worry about anyone else. The people who are truly good for you, will stick by you till the end of time.

4. "If you don't get it off your chest, you won't be able to breathe."

I LOVE this quote. If something is bothering you, talk to someone about it! Do not wallow in your feelings about someone or a situation. Tell that person you like them, talk to your professors with ways they can help you. Also, tell yourself things that you need to hear.

5. "My life. My choices. My mistakes. My lessons. Not your Business."

As college students, we tend to rely on others for a lot of things. Walmart runs, going out to parties and more. If someone has a problem with it don't let it phase you! You do you, and you can determine if it was a good choice or a choice that you learned a lesson from.

6. "Give yourself the same care and attention that you give others and watch yourself bloom."

Another one of my favorite quotes! Self care is really important to remember in 2020. Humans put so much effort into the relationships with other people and always make sure everyone else is okay. Make sure you are taking care of yourself. Take a couple naps. Get your favorite Starbucks drink. Do a face mask. Do what you need to do to ensure your mental and physical health is in top notch.

7. "People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel."

Make sure you aren't stressing about the little things. Treat people with respect, kindness, and love- no matter who they are. No one will remember that one day you didn't wear makeup, or when you chose to wear PJ's to class. Do not ever speak down to someone just because of something small. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, no matter what. Period.

8. "Never quiet the call in your heart."

I read this and instantly think about choosing a major in college. If there is an area that interests you and you know it'll make you happy, do it. Don't listen to salary projections, your parent's wishes or even what your friends are doing. I am a sophomore and had to change my major three times to find my passion. It is YOUR degree, and don't let others dictate what you should do for the rest of your life.

9. "Your wings already exist, all you have to do is fly."

Do you want to take a road trip to the beach? Explore a new city? Do it. Just go out and do it. Traveling is good for the soul. Go on that study abroad trip. Go on that weekend trip with your friends. Do not sit in your dorm room and think about the what if's, because you will regret it. Get out in 2020!

10. "Don't live in the same year over and over again. Make a change this time!"

Too frequently we always relive our past. It's always good to remember where you came from, but it's time to let go and go into 2020 with new goals and new outlook on life. If you made mistakes in 2019, which I am sure we all have, let them go and leave them behind. It's time to start fresh.

I hope that your semester goes smoothly and that you conquer anything that is thrown your way. Happy 2020 and here's to a new semester and a new start!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
