We always find something to do besides take notes.

10 Questions I Ask Myself In Class

1. What am I doing this weekend?

Of course I want to make the best of the two days I have to myself, which involves some thought. A good weekend is always planned in advance. I have to make sure I get everything accomplished, even if that means making time to study.

2. What am I going to eat for dinner?

Food -- obviously this is going to be on my mind. Who doesn't think about food? I'm always planning my next meal way ahead of time to make sure I don't starve.

3. How is Troni doing?

The most important question of them all. How is my puppy doing? The only place I want to be is in bed cuddling with my dog Troni. He's my best friend and I would take him to class with me if I could.

4. When is the next exam?

Every time I'm in class I always find myself wondering when the next exam is. Even though we just started a new chapter, I want to make sure it's not coming up. I probably ask my friends a million times before I write it down in my calendar.

5. How does my hair look?

This usually happens especially after lab. Four days of lab a week pretty much kill my hair game. One day I may want to look nice but that will never happen because of labs. I will always think about it though.

6. Where do I want to travel in my lifetime?

The answer -- Alaska. It looks incredible. Why would I want to think about hydrocarbons and resonance structures when I could think about hiking icebergs and seeing the northern lights?

7. Do I have an adequate bucket list?

I want to make sure my life is filled with fun and adventure. Go to the Grand Canyon, go to Greece, swim with sharks. Call me crazy, but these are just a few.

8. What is the MCAT like?

This is probably the only thing I can think about in class without my parents getting angry. There are so many things to think about when it comes to the MCAT, I don't even have time to think about all of the questions I have about it.

9. Is it warm outside?

Going back to lab, I have to wear pants every day. I want to know if I'm going to be sweating or freezing. This is a real concern because it will dictate how I execute the walk to my next class or to my car.

10. Where did I park?

The last question I ask myself in class. No matter where I park, I will never end up walking directly to my car. I take the scenic route, making sure I pass every car in the lot just to make sure mine didn't magically move to another spot.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
