10 Problems Only Tall Girls Understand

Growing up tall is actually more of a struggle than a person of average height might think. You're under 5'5? So? Us tall gals have problems, too! Besides never being able to find a guy taller than us, we actually face the most annoying problems and questions on the daily.

Below are

1. "So...how tall are you?"

Ah, the most common and basic question there is. I'm 5'9, and no, I do not, nor have I ever played basketball. Or volleyball. Thanks.

2. Trying to find jeans that actually fit

Probably the biggest challenge I faced all throughout middle and high school, nothing was ever long enough. I could never wear the same American Eagle jeans that all my friends wore. Actually, now that I think about it...maybe that was a blessing in disguise.

3. The 'look' you get when you wear heels

I rarely ever wear heels because I always feel like I'm silently being judged by everyone else around. Do you know how many pairs of shoes I would own if I was like, 5'3"?

4. Standing next to your short friend

Let's face it, every friend I have is my "short friend"

5. People always asking you to reach for things

Do I look like a ladder? Yes? Okay.

6. Shower heads

Who knew that a task as simple as showering could be so difficult? Well, when you're 5'9" and can't comfortably wash your hair without squatting down, it's a problem.

7. Being compared to a giraffe

Well, enough said.

8. Wearing under shirts

Because your normal shirt actually resembles a crop top.

9. Finding the 'perfect picture'

Whether you're having to squat down to fit in the picture with your group of friends, or your simply being cropped out because you just don't fit, finding the perfect Instagram picture to post is always a challenge.

Bathroom stalls

No, I shouldn't be able to see over the stall when I stand up, but of course, I do.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.
