16 Signs The Sophomore Slump Has Hit You

I thought I had avoided the sophomore slump. I was so thankful that my motivation hadn't disappeared without a trace, and that I was still getting all my readings done and not getting behind on my work. Then a few weeks ago, I had four exams in two days, and right after that, midterm grades were released. After seeing that I had pretty good midterm grades, my motivation completely left. Poof. I had no clue where it had gone. I had completely forgotten how hard I worked to get those midterm grades. That's when I realized. The Sophomore Slump had finally hit me. It had hit me hard. Now I've just got to get that motivation back and finish out this semester strong!

1. You're slightly scared of your agenda because what's inside is so daunting.

2. Knowing you have to declare your major soon makes you want to break into a run. Away from school. Fast.

3. You convince yourself that printing something out is worthy of taking a break.

4. In fact, even writing out your to-do list or your agenda is worthy of a break.

5. Nap time = all the time.

6. Each assignment seems to take longer and longer to complete.

7. "Get life together" has been on your to-do list for the past few weeks.

8. You wonder how everyone around you has (or, at least appears to have) their life together.

9. Everything other than responsibilities is extremely appealing to you.

10. In fact, you and your netflix account have bonded a lot over the last few weeks.

11. If your friends aren't experiencing the sophomore slump with you, they're wondering if you're okay.

12. You're constantly wondering how you've managed to make it this far.

13. Your list of hypothetical drop-out plans gets longer and longer each day.

14. Your eating habits are something to be seriously concerned about.

15. If anyone needs you, you'll probably be on your couch.

16. You've written an entire article about the Sophomore Slump during Harry Potter weekend because it's more fun than the stack of textbooks staring at you from across the room.

Oh wait, that last one is me......I'll get back to work now, and you should too!!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
