Must Visit Coffee Shops In La Crosse

For college students, finding the best study place can be a struggle. The library is always an option since it's right on campus, but sometimes we need a break from the same scenery and spot in the quiet section. We need a place that's cozy, has some good coffee for those extra long study sessions, and even some tasty food. What better place to try than a coffee shop? I myself find that I get the most work done in this setting, even if there might be more noise and distractions. Coffee shops have that kind of warm atmosphere that is great for studying, hanging out with some friends or staying warm on a chilly fall day. I have yet to tackle every coffee shop La Crosse has to offer, but these are some of my favorite go-to spots.

1. Bean Juice

I finally got around to going to Bean Juice this year after driving past it a bunch of times. It's hard to notice at first, but once you get inside you'll find that its a decent sized place. They have a wide range of coffees and smoothies and their sandwiches are really good too! The staff is super friendly and it's the kind of place where you feel like everyone knows each other. Plus it's right next to a candy store, so how can you pass that up?

2. MOKA

MOKA is awesome for when you want to go somewhere close to campus to meet up with friends or just grab a quick cup of coffee. Like any coffee shop, they have plenty of different drink options, and their menu is huge! They even have a drive-through for people on the go. The space is a little smaller, so it's not completely ideal for larger groups. Overall it has a great atmosphere and location for college students.

3. JavaVino

If you're looking for a nice study space, or nice night out with some great wine and food, JavaVino has both! It can be a little more upscale or very low key, depending on what your plans are. Even though it's a popular place, there's always a table available for a small or large group.

4. Jules' Coffee House

This is one of my favorite spots because its connected to my favorite bookstore, Pearl Street Books! I highly recommend checking out both; the coffee is excellent and the old building gives it a unique atmosphere. There's always a wide variety of music playing too. Plus, it's open until midnight on most nights, which is good for all of you late night students and procrastinators like me. It's definitely a spot worth checking out!

5. the Root Note

If you've been in La Crosse even for just a little while, I'm sure you've heard of the Root Note by now. It's definitely a La Crosse staple. Along with their coffee, they have absolutely delicious crepes. You can stop in for a good breakfast, study alone or in a group, or check out one of their Jazz or Open Mic nights. It's the perfect spot for any college student!

So grab a good book (or a not-so-good one you need to study) and head over to one of these great coffee shops. It will be a delicious trip and a great opportunity to support local businesses. Venture out; you may just discover your new favorite spot!

The dynamics of any friend group are usually determined by the personalities which make it up. Chances are, while personalities may overlap, each person in your friend group holds his or her own place. It is the differences which bring the groups together and keep them functioning. No matter how functionally dysfunctional your friend group may be, if you're anything like me, you feel absolutely blessed to have found such a wonderful group of humans to call "your people." Here is what your friend group might look like if they were Disney princesses (and that wasn't just a thing you all pretended in your heads):

When it comes to Bloomington-Normal, there are many outstanding factors that any Illinois State student can say are unique to our college town (and maybe others too). Proud or not, we Redbirds know all the ins and outs of Blono.

1. The wait for Buffalo Wild Wings is always going to be long on Thursday nights.

As hard as we try, it's nearly impossible to resist the 69-cent wings on a college student budget. Plus, they are always delicious!
