The 17 Lessons You Can Only Learn From Yourself

We often receive advice from someone close to us—a parent, friend, sibling, significant other and so on. But have you ever realized that sometimes the very best advice you can hang onto comes solely from your very own experiences?

1. When you genuinely love yourself, everything else falls into place.

Honor yourself in everything you do because you are so worthy of your own love. You'll also learn to appreciate the diversity of others through this.

2. Forgiving yourself is crucial.

It's not about the mistake you made anymore; it's about the ability to move on from it.

3. Being unauthentic is cutting yourself short.

Be the truest form of you because you're perfect just the way you are (quirks and flaws included).

4. Not every great opportunity is meant for you.

But then again, some are. This world is huge and you can almost always find what you hope for. But if you can't, create it.

5. Negative thoughts will turn into a negative life.

Think positive, live positive. Disconnect with the people in your life that bring you down.

6. "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

Learn your worth. Know your worth. Respect your worth.

No one is better than you, and you are not better than anyone else.

7. It's none of your business what people are saying about you.

The only thing that really matters is what you think of yourself.

8. You'll lose yourself in an attempt to give someone else your all.

After all, the person that deserves you will only ever ask you to be yourself.

9. Ten times out of ten, laughing at your own embarrassing moments makes you feel better.

We all get embarrassed! And seriously, you have to admit that time you tripped in front of everyone was funny.

10. Refusing to settle will open so many new doors.

Don't stop until you get what you want.

11. Do the right thing, even when it's not the popular thing.

Develop your own sense of judgment without blindly following rules.

12. It's okay to say "no."

You absolutely do not live to please people. You have every right to say no to something you'd rather not do.

13. You have to make time for yourself.

Do yourself a favor and treat yourself with something that makes you happy.

14. You're your own harshest critic.

Chances are, you'll notice your worst qualities before anyone else does.

15. Defend yourself.

This goes hand in hand with loving yourself. Stand up for yourself and don't let people walk all over you.

16. Where you're headed is far more important than what you've left behind.

You may have a great past, but the future is even brighter.

17. Trust your gut.

Most times, your intuition knows better than your head or heart.
